Lumps of neon orange, bright green, and deep purple. Stamps and molds and shaping tools. The Kokomo Howard County Public Library was fully prepared to host some aspiring sculptors on Dec. 27 as it hosted an afternoon of Dough-tastic creations at its main branch downtown.
Kids from 3-13 explored the limits of their imaginations with Play-Doh, molding and shaping the clay in the Discovery Center in children’s section of the library. And that’s just part of the holiday week events planned at the library.
Would you like the chance to sketch, color, and paint regularly with your friends? Then join the Teen Art Group at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s main branch, 220 N. Union St., on Thu., Dec. 28, from 4-5 p.m.
From 4-6 p.m., also at the main branch, kids ages 3-13 can experience Bricktopia: Adventures in Legoland. Kids can unleash their inner architects and let their imaginations run wild in this fun-filled, hands-on experience.
The library’s Teen Writers Group will meet from 5:05-6 p.m. on Thursday at the library’s main branch. Participants should write something to submit and critique. Teens who enjoy writing and want honest feedback are invited to attend. The library does ask participants to register for this event by visiting www.khcpl.org and clicking Events.
From 6-7 p.m. at the library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road, kids can get ready to ring in the new year with a variety of crafts. They can make confetti poppers to ring in the New Year with a burst of joy, a personalized box of wishes, filled with dreams and resolutions, and wand streamer crafts.
This new year event will be repeated on Sun., Dec. 31, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at the library’s main branch.
Finally, introduce your little one to quality literature and the library in a fun, inviting way with age-appropriate activities on Fri., Dec. 29, from 10-10:45 a.m. at the library’s south branch.
