Apperson islands aren't going anywhere
Only one island between Madison and Richmond slated for removal despite unpopularity
On Jan. 14, one of the islands separating traffic along Apperson Way collected a motorist in spectacular fashion, flipping the vehicle at the intersection with Madison Street.
The islands are not exactly popular with local motorists. From Vaile Avenue to Richmond Street, the barriers have collected many a vehicle since their installation during the administration of Mayor Greg Goodnight.
However, there are no plans to remove the islands at this time.
