Kokomo stands to receive a nice chunk of funding to fight the ongoing war on drugs, thanks to a resolution passed by the Kokomo Common Council on March 14. The city has re-entered the state’s opioid settlement with drug manufacturer Johnson & Johnson, making it eligible for a portion of the $507 million pay-out.
Kokomo was one of 45 cities and towns in that chose not to enjoin with the State of Indiana in its multi-state settlement with Johnson & Johnson for damages caused by the opioid epidemic. Instead, those municipalities pursued their own suit against the drug manufacturer.
