April Showers Gentle Yoga
Embrace the energy of renewal with a playful, gentle yoga sequence inspired by the unpredictable nature of April Showers. No prior yoga experience required. This event, sponsored by the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, will take place at the Jeff Stout Community Center, 650 N. West St., on Tue., April 1, from 6-7 p.m.
Spring into Tech Adult Technology Classes
Spring into tech by learning from Kokomo experts on the basics of computers, smart phones, scam prevention, and cyber security. Thanks to Community First Bank and Elsewhen Technology, the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Digital Den, 201 N. Union St., will hold this adult technology class on Wednesdays at 3 p.m. On April 2, Jeff Hodson, President of Elsewhen Technology, will discuss cybersecurity. High School Exhibition
Come show support for the talent and creativity of area high school juniors and seniors in the 27th Annual High School Exhibition, taking place at the IU Kokomo Art Gallery, 2300 S. Washington St. Seven schools from the surrounding area will be participating this year. The artworks on display will include a variety of different media ranging from: drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed media and much more. The exhibition will be displayed through April 2. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and is always free and open to the public.
Blind Tiger Comedy Open Mic
The Blind Tiger Comedy Open Mic show takes place on the first Wednesday of each month at the Elbow Room, 1004 N. Washington St. The next open mic night will be held on April 2. This event is free to attend, and you are welcome to try your hand at comedy.
Runner’s Blueprint
Starting Thu., April 3, the Kokomo Family YMCA, 114 N. Union St., will offer Runner’s Blueprint -- guidance, motivation, and coaching for runners of all levels, from beginners to experienced athletes. Whether you want to maintain or increase your fitness or improve your racing performance in the 5K to half-marathon range, this class is for you. In addition to training sessions, we will hold weekly discussions covering topics such as nutrition, footwear, training techniques, mindset, and general fitness practices. Classes are held on Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. in the Functional Fitness room.
Minecraft Pixel Perfect Party
Step into the blocky world of Minecraft with the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, 1755 E. Center Road, on Thu., April 3, from 6-7 p.m. Enjoy hands-on crafts, activities, and engaging games inspired by everyone’s favorite pixelated universe. This event is designed for children ages 6-13.
Shelter Planning and Prep
When disasters strike, there’s often no time to look up what you should do. You have to know what you should do. CrisisReady Howard County will cover various sheltering scenarios on Thu., April 3, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Century Villa Community Room, 705 N. Meridian St., Greentown. Learn where to take shelter, how to seal your home from a chemical hazard, and what you should take with you when you evacuate. Free preparedness items and resources will be available to participants.
Silver Birch’s Taste of Kokomo
Join Silver Birch of Kokomo, 408 S. Washington St., on Fri., April 4, as it celebrates the 2nd annual Silver Birch Taste of Kokomo! Experience an array of flavors and fellowship as local purveyors or fine cuisine gather to tempt tastebuds from 2-3 p.m. in the Silver Birch Lobby. The entire community is invited!
Coin Quest
Kids will build a solid understanding of U.S. coins and their values through challenges and crafts at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, 220 N. Union St., on Fri., April 4, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Whether you're learning to count coins or love to get creative, there’s something for everyone! This event is designed for children ages 6-13.
Recycled Art Exhibition
The Kokomo Art Association is putting out the call to artists for a juried Recycled Art Exhibition. Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, along with a People’s Choice award. The exhibition will run until April 25. An awards reception will be held on April 4 from 5:30-8 p.m. The exhibition will be housed at the Artworks Gallery, 210 N. First Friday Goes Green
Celebrate Earth Month with eco-friendly fun and nature-inspired activities at Kokomo’s First Friday, April 4, from 5:30-8 p.m. This free, arts-based, open house tour of beautiful downtown Kokomo features unique monthly themes. Visitors to the downtown area during the event will find discounts and activities at local businesses, live music, public art, family-friendly activities, and more. Kokomo Bobkats Basketball
The Kokomo Bobkats will play a home game against the Cincinnati Warriors on Fri., April 4, at Haworth Gymnasium, 2501 S. Berkley Road. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Gates open one hour before tip-off. YMCA Pickleball Tournaments
The Kokomo Family YMCA will offer two mixed doubles Pickleball double-elimination tournaments in two different age divisions. For players ages 50+, join the YMCA on Sat., April 5, to see if your team can make it to the top! On Sat., April 12, teams of players ages 18-49 will compete. Start time is 9 a.m. for each tourney. Both tournaments are available to YMCA members and non-members. Feel free to bring your own paddles and indoor pickleballs. The cost of registration is $60 per team, and all proceeds will benefit the YMCA’s Annual Campaign. Welcome Table Worship Café
The Welcome Table Worship Café, an informal, weekly worship gathering, will take place on Saturdays, beginning April 5. Share food and worship while inviting, welcoming, including, and valuing God’s beloved children at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road, at 4 p.m. each week.
Meditation Mondays
Experience change, growth, and vitality through meditation with Raine and Sage Healing Center, 901 S. Courtland Ave. Sessions take place every first and third Monday of the month from 10-10:45 a.m. and are free to all. The next session takes place on Mon., April 7.
Maker Zone
Join the Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., on the second Tuesday of each month for crafts and fun in the Maker Zone. The next session takes place Tue., April 8, from 3-4 p.m. after school.
Ink and Intrigue
For National Library Week, join Indiana University Kokomo for an evening with IU Kokomo alumna and Hoosier author of history, mystery, and crime Janis Thornton in the IU Kokomo Library’s Gathering Place, 2300 S. Washington St., on Wed., April 9, from 4:30-6 p.m. Thornton will read from one of her books, answer questions, and sign books for attendees. This free event is open to all alumni, but RSVPs are requested at korsvp@iu.edu. Refreshments will be provided, as well as tours of the library, following Janis’ talk. Books will be available to purchase.
Breakfast and BINGO
The Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., holds a morning of breakfast and BINGO on the second Friday of each month. Play for big prizes on Fri., April 11, from 9-10 a.m.
Trash to Treasure
Artist Vivian Bennett will offer the Trash to Treasure Junk Journal Workshop on Sat., April 12, from noon until 4 p.m. In this class, Vivian will teach participants how to make a junk journal from start to finish, using items normally thrown away. The class will take place at Artworks Gallery, 210 N. Main St., and the cost of the class is $62.50. Palm Sunday Tornadoes Revisited
Sixty years ago, Howard County was hit by the most damaging tornadoes in the community’s history, leaving a wake of destruction that is remembered even today. Join the Greentown Historical Society on Sat., April 12, as award-winning author Janis Thornton discusses her book, “The 1965 Palm Sunday Tornadoes in Indiana.” The discussion coincides with a new exhibit on the Palm Sunday tornadoes, which will be on display. This event takes place at the Greentown History Center, 103 E. Luscious Spring Break
Spring Break will heat up on Sat., April 12, as Rhine Hall Entertainment and Event Venue, 407 N. Union St., hosts A Luscious Spring Break Burlesque Show. Prepare for a night of sultry entertainment, dazzling performances, and unexpected surprises, hosted by Daddy and Lady Luscious. Treat yourself to our VIP experience and unlock early access at 7 p.m. with preferred seating. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., so arrive early to enjoy a cocktail, mingle with fellow lovers of luxury, and soak in the electrifying atmosphere. The show begins at 8 p.m. with an unforgettable lineup of burlesque performances that celebrate the seductive spirit of spring. This is a 21 and over event. VIP tickets are $30 and include reserved seating, table service, and access to a meet and greet with photo opportunities. VIP tables of four are $110, and VIP tables of six are $170. Marshmallow Madness
Get ready for a week-long celebration at the Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., from April 14-17. The library will celebrate marshmallows with fluffy, sweet, and delightful activities. Additional details will be provided in coming weeks.
Farmers’ Market
Silver Birch of Kokomo, 408 S. Washington St., invites the community to join them for an afternoon of shopping from local farmers and businesses at its Farmers’ Market on Fri., April 18, at 2 p.m. Live entertainment will be provided by Kenny Beasley and Wrangler and Friends.
Cowboy Church
On the third Saturday of each month, Fairview Baptist Church holds Cowboy Church. It’s a combination of Southern Gospel, Bluegrass, Hymns and a lot of serious goofing off. The next Cowboy Church will take place at 5 p.m. on Sat., April 19. Fairview Baptist Church is located at 2108 E Vaile Ave. behind the Walmart Plaza.
Kokomo Home Show
The Kokomo Home Show will take place on April 25-27 at the Markland Mall. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Fri., April 25, and Sat., April 26, and from noon until 5 p.m. on Sun., April 27.
Laser Tag at the Library
Gather your friends and get ready to dominate the competition at the Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., as it hosts an evening of Laser Tag! Navigate the library aisles, and battle it out among the shelves on Fri., April 25, from 6-8 p.m. All equipment will be provided, and pizza and drinks will be served. The event is open to tweens and teens ages 12-18. Space is limited. Four sessions lasting 30 minutes each will be conducted, and no more than 20 participants will be allowed to participate in each session. There may be opportunities to compete in more than one session, depending on participation. Register in advance by calling 765-628-3534.
YMCA Day Camp
Registration for the Summer 2025 YMCA Day Camp will begin Thu., May 1. This registration is a bit later than usual, but make sure to save the date! More information will become available in coming weeks.
Chocolate Celebration
The 23rd annual Samaritan Caregivers Chocolate Celebration will take place on Fri., May 2, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at One Church, 2734 S. Washington St. Tickets will be 5 for $20. Spring Craft Show
A Spring Craft Show will take place at the UAW Local 685 Union Hall, 929 E. Hoffer St., on May 10, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Free admission. There will be more than 50 vendors and food trucks on site for the event.
Mother’s Day Tea Party
Widows’ Purse will hold A Mother’s Day Tea Party on Sat., May 10, from 2-4 p.m. at Cross America, 840 Daniel Dr. Enjoy an afternoon of entertainment over premium tea and gourmet delicacies. A resident tea expert will lead guests in an informative lesson on tea and etiquette while local artists perform serene and enchanting music. Elegant afternoon attire is encouraged. KPD 5K
On May 17, the Kokomo Police Department will hold its inaugural KPD 5K Run. Proceeds from this community event will benefit the KPD Training Center, the Fraternal Order of Police, and Cops for Kidz. Mocktail Monday
Mocktail Monday for Mental Health is an electrifying evening, filled with music, food, and amazing drinks. Witness the spirited rivalry among local bars vying to craft the ultimate mocktail masterpiece. Each establishment is paired with a community leader to compete for "People's Choice," "Best Mocktail," and "Most Creative Booth." Tickets for $40 and include mocktail tastings from your favorite bartenders in Kokomo, music, and hors d'oeuvres. This event will take place on Mon., May 18, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Rhine Hall Event and Entertainment Venue, 507 N. Union St. All proceeds from this event will fund the Mental Health America Let’s Talk Peer Support Program.
Ignite Your Future Camp
Indiana University Kokomo will host Ignite Your Future Camp on June 9-12, and it is looking for alumni volunteers willing to help inspire middle schoolers through hands-on career exploration, self-awareness, and college readiness activities. Greentown Glass Festival
The Greentown Main Street Association announces the Greentown Glass Festival, scheduled for June 14, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. in downtown Greentown. The event is co-sponsored by First Farmers Bank and Trust. Enjoy nine restaurants within one block of downtown, along with food and craft vendors, a kid zone, a parade, local bands in concert, a car show, and more. Vendor space is available now. Creamed Corn Chug
The Literacy Coalition of Howard County will take center stage at the 2025 Floating Lantern and Foodie Feast-ival at Beaver Point Campground in Windfall on June 14 at 7 p.m. It will be the recipient of proceeds from a creamed corn chugging contest fundraiser. Participants will pay $25 to prove they are the fastest at consuming a 60 oz. pitcher of creamed corn. The fastest, cleanest chug will take the title. Kokomo’s Funniest Comedian
Calling all comedians! Rhine Hall Entertainment and Event Venue will hold its second annual Kokomo’s Funniest Comedian competition every Friday evening in September, with a grand finale taking place Oct. 3. Registration is open now for comedians seeking to compete. Registration deadline is July 28. Submit your three-minute performance video to rhinehall.gary@gmail.com. Each week, a panel of judges will select a winner from a round of competition who will advance to the finals. Those in attendance also have a chance to advance a comedian through people’s choice voting. The winning comedian will receive a $500 cash prize, a trophy, and paying gigs at an upcoming Rhine Hall comedy showcase and as the host of the 2026 competition.
