Hi-Five Cheer Camp
For kids who love stories, movement, and having fun! Cheer Camp combines the spirit of cheerleading with the magic of picture books to create an unforgettable experience for your little ones. Join the fun at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Russiaville branch, 315 Mesa Dr., on Mon., July 14, from 10-11 a.m.
Co-Ed Youth Group
The Carver Community Center, 1030 N. Purdum St., holds a Co-Ed Youth Group every other Monday for children ages 5-18. The next group is scheduled for July 14. Join them to share a meal together, engage in God’s message, and have recreation time. The group meets from 6-7:30 p.m.
Solidarity Members Beach Party
Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union will hold a members-only Beach Party on Mon., July 14, at the Kokomo Beach Family Aquatic Center, 802 W. Park Ave., starting at 7 p.m. Solidarity members receive free admission with their membership card or Solidarity debit card. They also receive a free cup of ice cream. No reservations are necessary.
Peru Circus City Festival
The Peru Circus City Festival will take place July 11-19 in Peru, Ind., featuring the 200 performers of the Peru Amateur Circus and the second largest parade in all of Indiana. Tickets to the circus, located at 154 N. Broadway St., range from $10-$11 and are available by visiting https://www.perucircus.com/tickets. The festival itself runs from July 14-19 in downtown Peru. The festival culminates with the parade on Sat., July 19, beginning at 10 a.m.
Tzion Community Food Pantry
Congregation Yeshivat Tzion, 614 W. Monroe St., holds a community food pantry every other Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. Bring your own boxes or bags to take home food. The next pantry takes place Tue., July 15. For more information, call 765-438-6858.
Stained Craft Butterflies
The whole family is invited to join the Kokomo Howard County Public Library and the Howard County Recycling District as they make old crayons "metamorphose" into beautiful butterflies! This event takes place at the library’s Russiaville branch, 315 Mesa Dr., on Tue., July 15, from 2-3 p.m.
DIY Paper Making

CrisisReady Howard County

Book Page Buttons

Mobile Food Pantry
Food Finders Food Bank will offer a mobile food pantry on Thu., July 17, at New Life Church, 1803 E. Vaile Ave. Drive-through distribution will begin at 10 a.m. Do not arrive prior to 9:30 a.m. Remain in your vehicle.
Dog Days of Summer

‘Army Guy and Red Cross Gal’
Author Barbara Olenyik Morrow will visit the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, 220 N. Union St., on Thu., July 17, from 6-7 p.m. to share the story from her new book of two northeast Indiana Hoosiers who served in Europe during World War II.
Pendulum Painting

Carver Summer Basketball League
The Carver Community Center will offer a Summer Basketball League from July 17 to Aug. 21. Games will be played each Thursday evening, and teams are guaranteed six games. There will be a seeded and bracketed tournament to finish the season with a championship trophy. Registrations are open now for players in grade divisions K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Kokochella
Everyone is invited to the Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road, on Fri., July 18, for Kokochella, Kokomo’s first music festival created for young music lovers. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., the library’s Firefly Stage will host a variety of musical performances, bubble fun, and a drum circle, culminating in a set by headliner Jim Gill, an award-winning musician and author. Get ready to sing, clap, and dance during this musical experience designed for children and families alike. This event will take place rain or shine. Make sure to bring a chair, blanket, or umbrella.
Nick Harless and Soulshaker
Visit the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road, for an after-hours concert by Nick Harless and Soulshaker. The concert takes place Fri., July 18, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the library’s Firefly Stage. Bring a chair or blanket.
Rising Star Vocal Competition
Rhine Hall Entertainment and Event Venue, 507 N. Union St., will hold the finals of the Rising Star Vocal Competition on Fri., July 18, beginning at 7 p.m., with the finalists competing for the top prize of $500. There will be hundreds of dollars in other prizes awarded to competitors. Benefits from this competition will go to Rhum Academy of Music. Summer Singing Celebration
Kokomo Curtain Call Theatre of Children will kick off its 25th season with a Summer Singing Celebration on Sat., July 19, at the Carver Community Center, 1030 N. Purdum St. Join the theatre for an afternoon of entertainment and light refreshments, beginning at 2 p.m. The event will feature at least 14 live performances. Kokomo 2025 Photo Contest
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department is holding its annual Photo Contest, with passes to Kokomo Beach as the prize. Shutterbugs have four chances to win by submitting their work ahead of the July 25 deadline. There are four categories of photos in the competition: Play and Explore, Move and Thrive, Celebrate and Gather, and Golden Moments. Submit photos on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #Kokomo4Ways2Play. Public voting begins Aug, 2, and the winners will receive passes to Kokomo Beach.
Kokomo’s Funniest Comedian
Calling all comedians! Rhine Hall Entertainment and Event Venue will hold its second annual Kokomo’s Funniest Comedian competition every Friday evening in September, with a grand finale taking place Oct. 3. Registration is open now for comedians seeking to compete. Registration deadline is July 28. Submit your three-minute performance video to rhinehall.gary@gmail.com. Each week, a panel of judges will select a winner from a round of competition who will advance to the finals. Those in attendance also have a chance to advance a comedian through people’s choice voting. The winning comedian will receive a $500 cash prize, a trophy, and paying gigs at an upcoming Rhine Hall comedy showcase and as the host of the 2026 competition.
YMCA Golf Outing
The Kokomo Family YMCA’s annual golf outing will take place Wed., July 30, at Chippendale Golf Course, starting at 1 p.m. The event will include various contests, including longest drive, closest to the pin, a $10,000 putting competition, and more. All proceeds from this event will be designated to the YMCA’s annual campaign, which allows the YMCA to provide financial assistance to those in need, regardless of age, income, or background, to ensure they have access to Summer Camp, swim lessons, and youth sports.
KPRD Fall Softball
Registration is open now for the Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department’s fall softball league, featuring men’s and co-ed divisions. Registrations will remain open through Aug. 1. Haworth Class of ‘80
The Haworth High School Class of 1980 will hold its 45th Reunion on Sat., Aug. 2, from 5-9 p.m. at the Columbian Club of Kokomo, 1631 Foxfire Lane, at the Wildcat Creek Golf Course. Creamed Corn Chug
The Literacy Coalition of Howard County will take center stage at the 2025 Floating Lantern and Foodie Feast-ival at Beaver Point Campground in Windfall on Sat., Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. It will be the recipient of proceeds from a creamed corn chugging contest fundraiser. Participants will pay $25 to prove they are the fastest at consuming a 60 oz. pitcher of creamed corn. The fastest, cleanest chug will take the title. Blind Tiger Comedy Open Mic
The Blind Tiger Comedy Open Mic show takes place on the first Wednesday of each month at the Elbow Room, 1004 N. Washington St. The next open mic night will be held on Aug. 6. This event is free to attend, and you are welcome to try your hand at comedy.

The third annual Solidarity Scholarship Golf Outing will take place Sat., Aug. 9, from 8 a.m. until noon at Wildcat Creek Golf Course, 3200 Timber Valley Dr. Entry is $500 per team. Jammin’ 4 the Camp
Join Professional Firefighters of Kokomo Local 396 on Sat., Aug. 9, for Jammin’ 4 the Camp, a Jeep Jam to benefit the Hoosier Burn Camp. From 5-10 p.m. in Foster Park, Jeep owners and their families will take part in a fun day in the park, and the public is welcome to attend. Music will be provided by Mast American Guitar and Ike ‘n’ Rory & the Rhythm Riders. There will be local food trucks, a beer tent, and a 50/50 raffle.
IU Kokomo Volleyball 2025-26
The Indiana University Kokomo volleyball program has officially released its 2025 regular season schedule, as the Cougars are coming off of a 2024 season that saw them earn a second-consecutive NAIA "Sweet 16" finish. Head coach Heather Hayes's squad is set to play 13 regular season matches inside the Student Activities & Events Center on the campus of IUK in 2025, including seven River States Conference matches. The first home match of the season takes place, Wed., Aug. 20, at 6 p.m. against Bethel College. The Cougars will host the 2025 IU Kokomo Volleyball Invitational Sept. 5-6, and the team has home dates on Sept. 26-27, Oct. 3-4, Oct. 24-25, and Oct. 30-31. The Senior Games
The Area Five Agency on Aging and Community Services is planning to offer the Senior Games, a celebration of the strength, spirit, and community of senior citizens. The Senior Games will be held throughout September across the Area Five region. In Kokomo, the Senior Games will take place Wed., Sept. 17. Area Five is currently seeking donations from the community to help make this event a success.
