The Piano Man
Kokomo Community Concerts will present its final concert of the 2024-2025 season – Sing Me a Song: You’re the Piano Man – featuring music from Billy Joel on Sun., April 27, at 2:30 p.m. The concert will take place at Kokomo High School’s auditorium, 2501 S. Central Middle Dance Team Auditions
The Central Middle International School Dance Team will hold audition clinics on Tue., April 29, and Tue., May 6, from 5-6:30 p.m. in the CMIS Dance Studio. Enter through Door 10 on South Union Street. Learn the tryout routine and enhance your dance technique in preparation for auditions on May 13. The dance team is exclusive to Kokomo School Corp. middle school students. During the dance season, the team will practice once a week for two hours before participating in events and games, as well as in Indiana High School Dance Team Association competitions. Rising Star Vocal Competition
Do you have what it takes to be a Rising Star? Rhine Hall Entertainment and Event Venue, 507 N. Union St., will hold a Rising Star Vocal Competition, and video auditions will be accepted through April 30. This event will feature three rounds of elimination competition on May 30, June 13, and June 27, with the finalists competing on July 18 for the top prize of $500. There will be hundreds of dollars in other prizes awarded to competitors. To enter, submit a video audition featuring your solo singing performance of no more than three minutes. It can be a capella or with accompaniment. The music can be original or a cover. The video should be submitted to info@rhinehall.com. It is free to submit an audition. AMVETS PTSD 5K Run/Walk
AMVETS Post 27 will hold a PTSD Awareness 5K Run/Walk on Sat., June 7, beginning at the Russiaville Town Hall, 250 N. Union St., Russiaville. CrisisReady Howard County
Summer heat is coming. Are you prepared? Join the Howard County Health Department on Thu., May 1, and learn how to stay cool, even when the power is out. Learn who is most at risk of suffering heat-related illnesses, as well as what signs to look for and how to respond. This educational session will take place at the Century Villa Community Room, 705 N. Meridian St., Greentown, from 6:30-8 p.m. Free preparedness items and resources will be available to participants. After the presentation, receive your CPR certification (BLS) while learning how to apply rescue breaths, compressions, and how to use an AED. Teen Summer Reading Program
The Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., will hold its Teen Summer Reading Program May 1-30. During the program, several special events will be held.

The Circus is Coming to Town
The Kokomo Art Association is proud to host the International Circus Museum. The opening reception is Friday, May 2, from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at Artworks, 210 N. Main St. There will be something for everyone to enjoy. This exhibit will include silent auction items and circus prints that can be purchased. KATS Youth Athletic Camps
Kokomo High School will offer action-packed summer with its youth athletic KATS - Kids Active Training and Skills - Camps. Throughout June and July, expert coaching will be offered in baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball, speed and strength training, tennis, and track and field, as well as a youth wrestling clinic, with former Iowa University standouts. Adult Summer Reading Program
The Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., will hold its annual Adult Summer Reading Program from June 2 through July 11. Themed “Color Our World,” the program invites you to employ your creativity in a variety of artistic activities as you read. Sign up, receive a reading log. Check out books and turn in your registration sheets to get summer started right! Win fantastic prizes by just reading for two hours. Prizes are awarded for up to 10 hours of reading, and whenever you visit the library to borrow books. On Mondays in June, enjoy Babes in Story Land from 11-11:30 a.m., beginning June 2. This program is designed for children ages 0-2. On Thursdays in June from 11-11:30 a.m., relive your favorite Mother Goose tales with your 3-year-olds, beginning June 5. On Mon., June 30, get messy with your preschoolers as you paint as 4th of July t-shirt, beginning at 11 a.m. On Tue., July 1, at 11 a.m., it’s time for your little ones to make friends and explore color. On Thu., July 3, Wrangler and Friends visit the library at 11 a.m. to show how much Wrangler loves color.

Closing the Gap
The Carver Community Center, 1030 N. Purdum St., will hold its annual Closing the Gap Summer Camp from June 3 through July 3. The camp takes place each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The camp provides classes focusing on language, computer skills, reading, mathematics, and STEM. The classes are led by licensed teachers, and instruction is given based on Indiana state standards. Classes will be filled with students selected by academic need, teacher recommendation, and school attendance. A parent must consent to sharing their child’s test scores with Closing the Gap teachers and administrators. This camp is free to attend and is available to children in grades K-5. Wednesdays at the Greentown Library
The Summer Reading Program at the Greentown Public Library, 421 E. Harrison St., is packed with activities for children. Each Wednesday at 1 p.m. through early July, the library will feature special programming. On June 4, Chalk the Block and transform the sidewalk around the library lot into a colorful masterpiece. On June 11, Color Your World with a beautiful porch spinner. On June 18, discover how to make scratch art sheets. Then, design a creation to take home and enjoy. On June 25, create a colorful sun catcher to brighten up any space. On July 2, dive into the MESStival and leave with a messy masterpiece of your own. On July 9, design a one-of-a-kind paper collage placemat using paper scraps. Take it home the same day or leave it to be laminated.
Fridays at the Greentown Library
The Summer Reading Program at the Greentown Public Library, 421 E. Harrison St., is packed with activities for children. Each Friday at 1 p.m. through early July, the library will feature special programming. On June 6, dress up in your brightest colors and get ready for a Technicolor Dance Party. This event will include black lights, strobe lights, and loud music. On June 13, head to Suburban Lanes in Tipton for an afternoon of Cosmic Bowling under the disco lights, complete with booming music and tons of fun. On June 20, go Somewhere Over the Rainbow with library. Follow the yellow brick road and gather all the pieces needed to create a rainbow craft. Don’t miss this choose-you-own-adventure experience! On June 27, declare a Color War! Meet on the Comet Trail near the T-ball field to jog through rainbow clouds, then cool off with a splash on the library lawn. On July 11, it’s time to Taste the rainbow, wrapping up the reading program with rainbow-themed snacks.
Birdies, Bourbons, and Beers
Soupley’s Wine and Spirits will team up with DSI Together with Bona Vista to present the annual Birdies, Bourbons, and Beers Golf Classic on Fri., June 13. This nine-hole event takes place at Wildcat Creek Golf Course, 3200 Timber Valley Dr. Lunch starts at noon, and the golf begins at 1 p.m. Registration is $400 per team. Greentown Glass Festival
The Greentown Main Street Association announces the Greentown Glass Festival, scheduled for June 14, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. in downtown Greentown. The event is co-sponsored by First Farmers Bank and Trust. Enjoy nine restaurants within one block of downtown, along with food and craft vendors, a kid zone, a parade, local bands in concert, a car show, and more. Vendor space is available now. Creamed Corn Chug
The Literacy Coalition of Howard County will take center stage at the 2025 Floating Lantern and Foodie Feast-ival at Beaver Point Campground in Windfall on June 14 at 7 p.m. It will be the recipient of proceeds from a creamed corn chugging contest fundraiser. Participants will pay $25 to prove they are the fastest at consuming a 60 oz. pitcher of creamed corn. The fastest, cleanest chug will take the title. Super Explorers Camp
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will offer its Super Explorers and Junior Super Explorers camps this summer. The Junior Super Explorers Camp runs from June 16-20 for children ages 5-8.
