FSA Prevent Child Abuse Conference

YMCA $5,000 Dinner
On Friday, April 25, the Kokomo Family YMCA will host its annual $5,000 dinner. Join the Y at The Experience where you could win $5,000 in a reverse lottery. Join in for a chance to win while enjoying a buffet-style dinner by Angry Donkey, as well as a silent auction with more than 50 items and opportunities. Arbor Day Tree Giveaway
Stop by the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Russiaville branch, 315 Mesa Dr., on Fri., April 25, from 6-7 p.m. and Sat., April 26, from 10 a.m. until noon and pick up a free tree, while supplies last, in celebration of Arbor Day! The seed library will also be open so you can select seeds to plant as we look toward planting season. From 11 a.m. until noon on April 26, visitors also can learn about proper composting with worms.
Laser Tag at the Library
Gather your friends and get ready to dominate the competition at the Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., as it hosts an evening of Laser Tag! Navigate the library aisles, and battle it out among the shelves on Fri., April 25, from 6-8 p.m. All equipment will be provided, and pizza and drinks will be served. The event is open to tweens and teens ages 12-18. Space is limited. Four sessions lasting 30 minutes each will be conducted, and no more than 20 participants will be allowed to participate in each session. Kokomo Bobkats Basketball
The Kokomo Bobkats will play a home game against the Lebanon Leprechauns on Fri., April 25, in the Haworth Gymnasium, 2501 S. Berkley Road. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Gates open one hour before tip-off. Medication Take-Back
Community Howard Regional Health is pleased to present a safe way to dispose of expired or unwanted medications. Drop off medications outside the main entrance of the Community Surgery Center, east side of Community Howard Regional Health, 3503 S. Reed Road, on Sat., April 26, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Security will be present to take back the medications. They will accept prescriptions, over-the-counter pills, liquid medications, vitamins, or pet medicines. They cannot accept mercury (thermometers), chemotherapy/radioactive substances, oxygen containers, pressurized containers/inhalers, needles/sharps, or illicit drugs. The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department launches its summer programming a bit early this year, beginning with a Creature Feature – Silly Safaris – on Sat., April 26, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Kirkendall Nature Center in Jackson Morrow Park. Meet amazing animals and learn about their unique traits at this fun and free educational experience for all ages. This is also the first KPRD Park Passport-eligible event.

Tiny II Exhibition
The Kokomo Art Association will hold the Tiny II Exhibition through April 26. This exhibition will feature 2D artwork measuring no more than 8 square inches and 3D art measuring no more than 8 cubic inches. The exhibition takes place at the Kokomo Art Center, 525 W. Ricketts St.
The Piano Man
Kokomo Community Concerts will present its final concert of the 2024-2025 season – Sing Me a Song: You’re the Piano Man – featuring music from Billy Joel on Sun., April 27, at 2:30 p.m. The concert will take place at Kokomo High School’s auditorium, 2501 S. Community Block Party

Central Middle Dance Team Auditions
The Central Middle International School Dance Team will hold audition clinics on Tue., April 29, and Tue., May 6, from 5-6:30 p.m. in the CMIS Dance Studio. Enter through Door 10 on South Union Street. Learn the tryout routine and enhance your dance technique in preparation for auditions on May 13. The dance team is exclusive to Kokomo School Corp. middle school students. Rising Star Vocal Competition
Do you have what it takes to be a Rising Star? Rhine Hall Entertainment and Event Venue, 507 N. Union St., will hold a Rising Star Vocal Competition, and video auditions will be accepted through April 30. This event will feature three rounds of elimination competition on May 30, June 13, and June 27, with the finalists competing on July 18 for the top prize of $500. There will be hundreds of dollars in other prizes awarded to competitors. To enter, submit a video audition featuring your solo singing performance of no more than three minutes. AMVETS PTSD 5K Run/Walk
AMVETS Post 27 will hold a PTSD Awareness 5K Run/Walk on Sat., June 7, beginning at the Russiaville Town Hall, 250 N. Union St., Russiaville. The Circus is Coming to Town
The Kokomo Art Association is proud to host the International Circus Museum. The opening reception is Friday, May 2, from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at Artworks, 210 N. YMCA Summer Camp 2025
Registration is now open for the Kokomo Family YMCA’s Summer Camp at Camp Tycony. Finalize your summer plans and register your child for the best summer ever. Your child will have the opportunity to explore nature on 52 beautiful acres, which include hiking trails, ponds, wooded areas, and more! They will discover new talents, try various activities, gain independence, and form lasting friendships and memories. Summer Camp begins on June 2nd, and spots are expected to fill up quickly! KATS Youth Athletic Camps
Kokomo High School will offer action-packed summer with its youth athletic KATS - Kids Active Training and Skills - Camps, featuring an incredible lineup of programs designed to keep kids active and engaged throughout the summer while inspiring and developing young athletes. Throughout June and July, expert coaching will be offered in baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball, speed and strength training, tennis, and track and field, as well as a youth wrestling clinic, with former Iowa University standouts. Closing the Gap
The Carver Community Center, 1030 N. Purdum St., will hold its annual Closing the Gap Summer Camp from June 3 through July 3. The camp takes place each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. through those dates. The camp provides classes focusing on language, computer skills, reading, mathematics, and STEM. The classes are led by licensed teachers, and instruction is given based on Indiana state standards. Classes will be filled with students selected by academic need, teacher recommendation, and school attendance. A parent must consent to sharing their child’s test scores with Closing the Gap teachers and administrators. This camp is free to attend and is available to children in grades K-5. The Uncanny Exhibition
The IU Kokomo Art Gallery is searching for something strange. The Uncanny Exhibition will take place June 4-25, and the gallery is inviting artists to submit their unnatural or otherworldly artwork. Greentown Glass Festival
The Greentown Main Street Association announces the Greentown Glass Festival, scheduled for June 14, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. in downtown Greentown. The event is co-sponsored by First Farmers Bank and Trust. Enjoy nine restaurants within one block of downtown, along with food and craft vendors, a kid zone, a parade, local bands in concert, a car show, and more. Vendor space is available now. Creamed Corn Chug
The Literacy Coalition of Howard County will take center stage at the 2025 Floating Lantern and Foodie Feast-ival at Beaver Point Campground in Windfall on June 14 at 7 p.m. It will be the recipient of proceeds from a creamed corn chugging contest fundraiser. Participants will pay $25 to prove they are the fastest at consuming a 60 oz. pitcher of creamed corn. The fastest, cleanest chug will take the title. Super Explorers Camp
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will offer its Super Explorers and Junior Super Explorers camps this summer. The Junior Super Explorers Camp runs from June 16-20 for children ages 5-8. Super Explorers Camp for ages 9-11 takes place June 23-27. Registration is open now, and the cost is $30 per child. Visit the parks department office in Highland Park to register.
