Mr. Kingston returns July 25-26
All ages are invited to celebrate Howard Countyās automotive heritage at the upcoming Mr. Kingstonās Auto Exhibition, hosted by the Howard County Historical Society. The event, now in its fourth year, brings more than 40 classic vehicles to the Seiberling Mansion lawn, where visitors can learn more about the evolution of the automobile and the industryās impact on Howard County.
Distinct from other car shows, this exhibition features only carefully curated models that highlight the history of the automotive industry. The event is named after George Kingston, who lived in the Seiberling Mansion and invented a revolutionary carburetor that helped transform the auto industry. More information on Kingston can be found inside the mansion, which will be open to the public for free during the exhibition.
Visitors also can enjoy a Pinewood Derby, educational displays on notable Indiana inventions, a vintage fashion display, and meet-and-greets with Mr. and Mrs. Kingston as portrayed by Marcia and Jerry Nelson. Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the event.
Friday evening will feature live music from the Hoosier String Players. Saturday at noon, Mayor Tyler Moore and Tom Tolen from the City of Kokomo will once again compete in a Derby race.
Mr. Kingstonās Auto Exhibition is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 25, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26. Activities will take place on the Seiberling Mansion lawn, 1200 W. Sycamore St., in Kokomo. The event is free and open to all ages. For more information, visit hchistory.org.

Button holding a blood drive July 17
On Thursday, July 17, from 2-6 p.m., Button Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in partnership with the Red Cross will be hosting a community blood drive. The address is 1220 E. Blvd., Kokomo, IN 46902.
Walk-ins are welcome, but the community is encouraged to sign-up here to reserve a time to donate.
The Button dealership, a part of Chariot Automotive Group, has partnered with the Red Cross in the past and remains committed to giving back to the residents of Kokomo. This will be the fifth time the two organizations have worked together by encouraging donations at an on-site blood drive at the Button dealership.
The Red Cross encourages healthy donors to give blood every time they are eligible, which is typically once every 56 days, up to 6 times a year. The full process takes about an hour, with the actual donation taking about ten minutes. Donors must bring a blood donor card and driverās license, or two other forms of identification. Individuals who weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Donors who are 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements, as well as have parental consent.
