Douglass School added to the National Register of Historic Places
City of Kokomo announces ARPA nonprofit grant awards
The National Park Service, United States Department of the Interior, notified Embracing Hope of Howard County that it listed the Douglass School, 1104 North Bell St., in the National Register of Historic Places. The property once served as an elementary school for African American children in Kokomo.
The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the nation’s historic places worthy or preservation. Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America’s historic and archaeological resources.
