The Kokomo Downtown Farmers Market will be open for business tomorrow, Sat., May 27, featuring food, fun, and music from local vendors. The market opens every Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon at 232 W. Mulberry St.
The market offers opportunities to support small businesses and local food producers while celebrating the arts and the community. Live music and demonstrations are conducted each Saturday, and local non-profits are given a chance to educate the public about their missions.
Each week, a host of educational opportunities are also presented, with topics ranging from nature to nutrition to gardening. Simple wellness check-ups are also offered, courtesy of the Community Howard Regional Health CareMobile.
There are plenty of things for children to do at the Kokomo Downtown Farmers Market. Games, arts and crafts, and fun educational activities are offered each week.
The Kokomo Downtown Farmers Market has positioned itself to support community prosperity through promoting health and nutrition, sustaining small, local food producers, and providing exposure to local arts and artisans.
The market strives to be accessible to everyone, particularly those in need of nutritious options for their weekly diet. Cooking demonstrations are offered to help educate participants about providing good meals for themselves and their families, and the market accepts Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. The market even offers a "Double Bucks" program which matches up to $15 of SNAP expenditures on items like fruits and vegetables.
