The city will be festooned with flowers once again this year, and citizens will have a chance to assist in the decorating. The Kokomo Downtown Association held a planting event on April 7 to get more than 1,000 hanging baskets ready, and the turnout was something that would have been impossible a year ago.
According to downtown association director Susan Alexander, between 60-75 volunteers were on hand to help with the planting, “from little Girl Scouts to big Kokomo BobKats.”

“Everybody did such a good job,’ said Alexander. “We got all of the baskets planted, and we were able to pot up some of the plants that will be put into the ground. It’s a great effort. It was really nice to see a bunch of people. Last year, we really limited the number that could come out because of the pandemic.”
