Elite Therapy of Kokomo held its grand opening on Nov. 7, giving tours of the recently constructed facility adjacent to Community Howard Regional Health at 401 Reynolds Drive.
Elite Therapy had been housed in the former home of the hospital-managed Replay Sports Therapy on Dixon Road, and according to Elite's Community Liaison David Schultz, the company felt it was time for a change.
"We really felt like it was either time to remodel and upgrade our previous facility or make a move," said Schultz.
Being closer in proximity to a hospital was also a factor in the choice of a new home, and the availability of the property on Reynolds Drive made the decision an easy one.
"We truly love the handiness for patients of our new location," stated Shultz.
The new building is comparable in terms of space to the Dixon Road location. Shultz noted that the new area has a more "open" concept in mind.
"The open concept lends to better patient flow and collaboration with other clinicians,” said Schultz. “It also provides more of an open feeling with the high ceilings and lots of natural light."
Large TVs are situated throughout the area, and the staff has access to a finished basement for breaks and individual workstations.
The entire Dixon Road staff came along to the new location, and Shultz was happy that patients can stay with their favorite therapists.
"Our staff is the heart of the great care we provide, and they played the major role in making this new building upgrade a reality," said Schultz.
Accessing therapy at the new Elite facility is usually done with a physician's referral, but Shultz stated that physical therapists have “direct access” which allows them to see a patient for up to 29 days without an order. At this time, a web-based patient portal is planned where prospective individuals will be able to fill out information online to become an Elite Therapy patient. A patient can ask their physician to send a referral directly via fax at 800-805-4620.
Schultz added that a patient portal is in the works on the website which would allow patients to fill out their information to become a patient. Walk-ins are also welcome. Any patient can also stop by the brand-new facility at 401 Reynolds Dr. and schedule an appointment or check out the new facility. For additional information, call Elite at 765-459-7275.
