In late November, detectives from the Howard County Sheriff Office Task Force Unit began an investigation after they received an anonymous tip about drugs being trafficked into the Howard County Criminal Justice Center. Once the information was received, detectives learned that a former jail employee was a potential suspect.
The employee had already been terminated prior to the detectives receiving the information for an unrelated event. The former employee was identified as 24-year-old Branagan E. Reece of Kokomo.
On Dec. 11, the Howard County Sheriff Office Task Force Unit conducted an interview and arrested Reece and a current inmate, 27-year-old Justin Mundy for the following:
Branagan Reece
35-44.1-1-1 OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT Level 6 Felony
35-44.1-3-5 TRAFFICKING WITH AN INMATE Level 5 Felony
Justin Mundy
35-44.1-3-5 TRAFFICKING WITH AN INMATE Level 5 Felony
This case remains under investigation and anyone with information should contact Detective Jacob Gibson or Detective Will Cline at 765-614-3473 or by submitting a tip using the sheriff’s department app or at www.sheriff.howardcountyin.gov .
The Howard County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that the filing of the information is merely an allegation, and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
