GOP chooses new council member
David Capshaw will fill First District seat resigned by Jason Acord
The Howard County Republican Committee Members met in caucus on June 13 to replace the vacancy of Kokomo City Council, District 1. The vacancy occurred due to the resignation of Jason Acord.
The caucus members voted to elect David Capshaw. Mayor Tyler Moore will swear Mr. Capshaw in on Tuesday, June 14.
“I believe David’s background as a veteran, VFW Commander, and retired fireman give him an immense knowledge of some of the issues and projects happening throughout our city,” stated Jennifer Jack, Republican Party Chairwoman. “I think he will make a great addition to the Kokomo Common Council, and I look forward to working with him to continue moving this community forward.”
Acord’s resignation on May 24 came about following a Kokomo Lantern investigation which revealed Acord never resided in the First District, yet was allowed to run for the office and hold the First District council seat. The party called the situation a “honest mistake.”
