Last weekend, a strange thing happened. There were pink and blue sharks, superheroes, walking pumpkins, and even a Coke machine, all milling about in front of the Kokomo Family YMCA.
These odd characters were waiting for the YMCA's Halloween Hustle, a 5K run/walk that included music food, games, and a costume contest.
The weather cooperated for the event, offering up plenty of sunshine and chilly fall temperatures. As a result, the participants were all smiles as they anxiously awaited the race.
The 5K was led by none other than Kokomo's own Batman, who is often seen running around town. And there were plenty of costumed characters hustling behind him.
After the 5K, a smaller race was held for the kids. And awards were given for all who participated. Winners also were announced in the accompanying costume contest.
