Former St. Patrick school employee accused of inappropriate conduct with young men

Charles “Chuck” Jansen, a formerly prominent member of the local community associated with St. Patrick Catholic Church, is facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct involving underage males.
The alleged misconduct first came to light at the end of April 2023, and an investigation is taking place into the matter. In the absence of criminal charges or official comment, the Kokomo Lantern previously declined to cover the story. However, on June 6, St. Patrick Catholic Church issued a statement following exposure of the matter on Facebook.
The statement from Fr. Christopher Shocklee is as follows:
“The safety and wellbeing of our children and young people are of the utmost importance to me and all of us at Sts. Joan of Arc and Patrick Parishes and School.
We are aware that misconduct allegations against a former employee were brought forward. This person is no longer employed by our parish, school, or the diocese, and an investigation is ongoing. In employment matters, we are unable to speak about a person’s past employments.
If you or someone you know have been impacted by, or have been made aware of, any misconduct, we encourage you to report the incident in the following manner per existing diocesan policy:”
The statement then provides contact information for Child Protective Services, local law enforcement, and the church’s victim assistance coordinator.
Jansen’s employment with the church was terminated at the end of April. He resigned as chairman of the Kokomo Plan Commission Board of Zoning Appeals on or about May 2. At that time, sources indicated that Jansen had moved out of the Kokomo area.
The extent of the alleged conduct has not been officially disclosed, nor has a timeframe been established for how long the conduct took place or if it was limited only to Jansen’s time at St. Patrick.
Should further details be confirmed about the allegations through official investigation or the filing of criminal charges, the Kokomo Lantern will report on those matters.
Started waaaaay before 2022-2023. Try early 2000s all the way up til he was forced to resign or be fired at Taylor High School for the same misconduct.
You should refer to the Kokomo in the Know Facebook post about this. There are many people discussing the actual allegations being investigated, which do not stem from his time at St Patrick.
