Kokomo man charged with attempted fraud
Mikel Ringley allegedly schemed to take properties from the deceased
Most crimes that are committed take place against victims who are living. A Kokomo man allegedly found a way to victimize the dead, or at least their estates.
Mikel Ringley was arrested on Aug. 19 on three charges: attempted fraud, corrupt business influence, and perjury. The arrest stems from an investigation that reaches back more than two years and is related to an alleged scheme to swipe properties via paperwork from those who recently died.
Prosecutors initially established charges in February 2021, based on allegations that Ringley “did knowingly acquire or maintain an interest in, or control of, or take a substantial step toward acquiring an interest in” homes at 2807 Dellwood Dr., 3021 Terrace Dr., and 810 E. Lordeman St. through a pattern of racketeering.
