Kokomo man dies in vehicle crash
Also, Miracle Treat Day to benefit Riley; Indiana Health Fair July 17-20
On Monday, July 14, 2025, at approximately 12:06 p.m., deputies with the Howard County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Greentown Police Department were dispatched to the area of County Road 300 South and County Road 600 East in response to a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash. Initial reports indicated the occupant was unresponsive inside the vehicle.
Emergency personnel from the Greentown Fire Department and medics from Howard Regional Health responded and provided medical assistance. Upon arrival of first responders, a red GMC Sierra 1500 was located in a bean field on the north side of County Road 300 South. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver has been identified as 48-year-old Sean Curtis Paul of Kokomo.
Preliminary investigation and witness statements indicate the vehicle was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, entered a ditch, and overcorrected. The truck then slid across the road, left the pavement again, and rolled multiple times before coming to rest in the field. Witnesses estimated the vehicle’s speed to be over 100 miles per hour prior to the crash. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this crash.
Sheriff’s Accident Reconstructionist documented the scene using both ground-level photography and aerial mapping via drone. A two-dimensional orthomosaic map of the crash site is being generated, along with a point cloud, to assist with the ongoing crash reconstruction.
An autopsy was conducted later that afternoon by a forensic pathologist at the Howard County Coroner’s Office. The cause and manner of death are pending autopsy and toxicology results. The Coroner’s Office notified the decedent’s next of kin prior to the public release of his identity.
The case remains under investigation by the Howard County Sheriff’s Office and the Howard County Coroner’s Office. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Sgt. Chris Cramer at (765) 614-3474 or submit a tip through the Sheriff’s Office mobile app or at www.sheriff.howardcountyin.gov.
The Howard County Sheriff’s Office was additionally assisted on scene by members of the Taylor Fire Department and personnel from the Howard County Emergency Management Agency.
