The Kokomo Wildkats faced a talented Brownsburg team on Dec. 30 and found out quickly that Bulldogs star Kanon Catchings is the real deal. The Purdue-bound shooter scored 39 points to help take the trophy at the Phil Cox Memorial Holiday Tournament. Brownsburg prevailed, 73-51, at Memorial Gymnasium.
The sell-out crowd largely came to see the Wildkats and 6’ 10” center Flory Bidunga, and he didn’t disappoint. The heavily recruited junior scored 24 points and was perfect from the field.
Unfortunately, the rest of the team didn’t have the same efficiency, shooting just 28 percent from the field. That wasn’t enough to knock off the #5-ranked Bulldogs.
Kokomo falls to 7-4 on the season, though it remains perfect in North Central Conference play. The Wildkats next travel to Logansport for a conference bout.
