The Kokomo Wildkats hosted the Peru Tigers on Dec. 1 for an early-season varsity basketball game, and the home team walked away with the victory, 72-45.
The Wildkats led from start to finish, though the Tigers kept things relatively close until the fourth quarter as the visitors simply couldn’t keep pace.
It was senior Karson Rogers who had the hot hand on the evening. He scored 26 points on 10 of 15 shooting from the field. He also dominated on defense, leading all players in rebounds with 15 and steals with 4.
Other standouts for the Wildkats included senior Ap Mitchell with 18 points and senior Flory Bidunga with 12 points. Mitchell added 12 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.
Peru had some bright points during the evening. Senior Matthew Roettger led the Tigers with 15, though they came on a 3-for-18 shooting performance. He also led his team with 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Junior Gavin Eldridge added 6 boards.
The Wildkats, now 5-2 on the season after a victory at Marion last night will travel to Carmel to face-off against the Greyhounds. Peru stands at 4-2 and will visit Lewis Cass this evening.
