On Sept. 13, 2024, at approximately 4:34 p.m., officers of the Kokomo Police Department were dispatched to the Syndicate Sales Distribution Center, located at 1200 W. Markland Ave., in reference to a bomb threat.
Upon their arrival officers secured the building and assisted with the evacuation process. The Kokomo Police Department Hazardous Device Unit was requested to the scene along with a Howard County Sheriff's Department explosive detection canine. A complete sweep of the distribution center was performed, and no suspicious items or packages were located.
Assisting the Kokomo Police Department in the bomb threat response was the Kokomo Fire Department, Howard County Emergency Management Agency, and Howard County Sheriff's Office.

Street Corner Symphony launches Community Concerts series
Kokomo Community Concerts, a nonprofit organization devoted to bringing a wide range of entertainment to the local community for decades, launches its 2024-25 season on Sun., Sept. 25, with a performance by Street Corner Symphony.
The eclectic group performs a wide range of music, form gospel and country to rock and pop. And they do it a cappella and even feature a beat boxer. Street Corner Symphony rose in prominence after finishing as runners-up in the NBC television show “Sing-Off.”
Tickets for this concert are $25 each, though season tickets encompassing all five Kokomo Community Concerts are just $60. Students from Kindergarten through college attend free. Tickets are available in person at Comprehensive Planning, Frittatas Restaurant, The Windmill Grill, and all three Herbst Pharmacy locations. All concerts take place on Sundays at 2:30 p.m. in Kokomo High School’s auditorium.
