The Kokomo Lady Kats dominated the court on Dec. 16, doubling up the Marion Lady Giants, 72-36, in Memorial Gym as part of a boys/girls doubleheader.
The Lady Kats jumped out to an insurmountable 27-9 lead in the first quarter and followed it up with an equally devastating 20-4 second quarter to put the game out of reach by halftime, 47-13.
Kokomo was led in scoring by inside powerhouse Aijia Elliott. The junior topped the list with 21 points, shooting 9-14 from the field. Sophomore Makaela Drake drove the lane for 13 points, and outside threat Kamaria White, a junior, scored 11.
Elliott also led the team with 10 rebounds, securing a double-double. White showed off her ball-handling skills with seven assists and five steals in the contest. Drake was good for four assists and four steals.
With the win, Kokomo improved to 7-5 on the season and 3-1 in North Central Conference play. The Lady Kats play next at the Warsaw Tournament on Dec. 29-30 and return home on Jan. 6 to face the Logansport Berries.
