Since 1982, Leadership Kokomo has shaped tomorrow’s leaders today, and more than 950 alumni have completed the program over the past 41 years. The LK program brings together a diverse group of existing and emerging community leaders and empowers them to become resourceful stewards of the community through four pillars: 1) community education; 2) core leadership development; 3) supplemental professional development; and 4) civic engagement through nonprofit service.
This established leadership development program provides participants with 100 contact hours of training over nine months, meeting every other Tuesday morning. LK is run through Ivy Tech Community College in partnership with the City of Kokomo, Kokomo Thriving Center Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU), and the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance/Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce. LK has even been assessed by IWU, and all participants earn three leadership credits at the bachelor's or master's degree level due to the extensive leadership education provided.
Members of LK42 who already have been accepted into the program come from diverse companies and organizations including: Kokomo Rescue Mission, Kokomo Housing Authority, Community First Bank of Indiana, Mental Health America, Turning Point System of Care, BMO, Ivy Tech Community College, IUK, Community Health Network, Greater Kokomo Chamber, Bucheri McCarty & Metz, Engaging Minds Autism Services, Family Service Association of Howard County, City of Kokomo, and Center Township of Howard County.
