Craig Dechert sued by woman claiming injury from May 23 incident
Local attorney and Howard County public defender Craig Dechert is facing a lawsuit and possible criminal charges for his role in a May 23 traffic incident in Hamilton County. Dechert was arrested on a charge of OWI Endangering a Person on that date.
Though Dechert was arrested and booked into the Hamilton County Jail, no charges have been filed in the Hamilton County court system more than four weeks after the incident. A civil suit has been filed against the attorney, however, by an alleged victim.
