During November’s Kokomo School Board meeting, the board passed a resolution of appreciation and commendation for KHS senior golfer, Elizabeth Lytle, the recipient of the annual Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association 2022 Michael J. Winger Courage State Scholarship Award.
Lytle, the board resolution stated, “has played No. 1 the past two seasons” for the Kokomo Girls’ Golf Team while being President of Kokomo High School’s Technokats Robotics Squad, an officer in KHS Girls League organization, and taking more than 17 AP/DP dual college credit courses among several other school activities.
The board noted that Lytle “overwhelmingly exemplifies the criteria of the Winger award” being “a varsity player who contributes to the success of her golf team in spite of physical challenges.”
The resolution went on to document that past two seasons the Lady Wildkat was not only number one for the team, but participated in 11 dual matches, twice receiving low medalist honors at the North Central Conference Tournament, and a three-time IHSAA Regional qualifier.
Lytle’s coach, Kylie Kern, noted in the resolution that “Elizabeth is one of the hardest-working players I have ever coached, and she always has a great attitude no matter what may be happening in her life.”
KHS Principal Angela Blessing praised Lytle by saying, “Elizabeth is the quintessential student- athlete … she exemplifies what it means to be a Wildkat!”
In other KSC school board action the board approved a request by Jeff Mohler and Linda Lauderbaugh on behalf of Special Olympics of Indiana to use Kokomo High School gymnasium, media room, softball area, and cafeteria, along with facilities at Maple Crest and Elwood Haynes facilities from November 2022 through September 2023 for sporting events and meetings. In the same request the board voted to waive all rental and custodial fees.
The board approved operating agreements from Eastern Howard, Maconaquah, Northwestern, Taylor, Tri-Central, and Western School Corporations with the Kokomo Area Career Center.
