The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department, along with Windmill Grill, hosted the Monster Bash, a collection of businesses, charities, and organizations that were spread throughout Jackson Morrow Park on the city’s south side, handing out candy and information along the walking paths.
A parks department employee estimated that close to 1,500 costumed revelers show up during the 5½-hour event, causing some traffic jams along Park Road and using the lot at Center Road Church of Christ on Park and Center Road as overflow parking.
Despite the huge crowd, the lines along the walking paths moved briskly through the colorful treat stations, and when that was done, Windmill Grill's food trailer offered tasty food for the intrepid princesses, goblins, and very popular T-Rex costumed attendees.
The Bash also featured a costume contest, pumpkin painting contest, a hayride, and bouncy castle and slide.
Extreme Sound DJ provided the music, and the KPRD portable stage was set up for the costume contest.
