On Aug. 1, neighborhoods throughout Kokomo are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the Annual National Night Out (NNO). National Night Out promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer and a more caring place to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods host block parties, cookouts, and various community events with safety demonstrations, youth events, visits from police personnel, and much more.
Events in Kokomo will take place at the following Crime Watch Neighborhoods and locations.

The Kokomo Police Department will host a Celebration at Kokomo Beach from 4-8 p.m. There will be no admission fee, and Kokomo Police will provide hot dogs.

Americans and the Holocaust events continue
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library is hosting a special Americans and the Holocaust exhibit through Aug. 17 at its main branch, 220 N. Union St. In conjunction with this special display from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, the library is holding several events, all of which take place at its main branch.
On Mon., July 31, from 6-7:30 p.m., join the library for a panel discussion featuring clips from the documentary by Ken Burns, Lynn Novick & Sarah Botstein: "The U.S. and the Holocaust."
On Tue., Aug. 1, from 6-8 p.m., Brenda Freedman, a first-generation American, and her spouse, Corey, will tell the story of her parents, Holocaust survivors, as well as the story of a family friend who helped liberate survivors.
On Wed., Aug. 2, from 6-7 p.m., the library will hold a Q&A with author Steven Alan Carr on Hollywood, Nazism, and the Holocaust.
On Tue., Aug. 8, from 6-8 p.m., hear from Sharie Fay Fields, whose grandmother and mother were Polish Jews and the only two from their large family to survive World War II.
