Medical practices of the Civil War
Those interested in the history of the Civil War are invited to learn more about medical practices during that time from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 22 at KHCPL Main, 220 N. Union St.
Presenter David Cockrell is a Civil War re-enactor specializing in medical/surgical procedures of the era. He will share his vast collection of instruments, textbooks, photographs and more. He’ll explain why so many soldiers died from injuries and even why some survived.

Raccoon Lake Sax Quartet plays at Main Street UMC
Main Street United Methodist Church, 830 S. Main St., will host a fundraising evening featuring the Raccoon Lake Sax Quartet on Sat., Apr. 15, from 4-5 p.m. The quartet consists of professional musicians who are dedicated to preserving the art of live music.
The event is open to the entire community. A silent auction will be held during the event, and a freewill offering will be accepted. Audience participation is encouraged.
Arts Federation in need
Funding from the Arts Federation with a special grant from the National Endowment of the Arts made the treasured Miami Indian mural possible.
The Arts Federation serves as the Region 4 funding entity for the Indiana Arts Commission. The Kokomo Symphony, Kokomo Civic Theatre, and many other organizations and projects are supported through funding from the Arts Federation/IAC.
