Library has an app; Solidarity scholarship deadline; Kiwanis awards students
Kokomo library has an app
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library launched an app for smartphones this week. It is free to users and can be found by searching for “Kokomo-Howard County Pub Lib” in the app store.
With the app, users can search the library’s online catalog, online resources, and databases. They can also place holds for printed materials and renew items they already have checked out. Registration for certain library events also may be completed through the app.
The app allows user to store their library card information on the app and includes the hours of operation for all the library’s locations. It also has the added functionality of allowing users to scan barcodes on any book, anywhere to see if the library owns a copy that users may check out.

Kiwanis Club of Kokomo Foundation presents Darrell Hodson Awards
In May, the Kiwanis Club of Kokomo Foundation presented its 50th annual Darrell Hodson Awards to local students. The 4th to 8th grade students, who were nominated by their teachers, showed the most improvement in bringing up their grades.
Darrell Hodson, a local attorney, was instrumental in establishing the Foundation for the Kiwanis Club of Kokomo. Hodson believed that students trying their very best should be rewarded for their efforts. At his passing, the Foundation created and sponsored the Darrell Hodson Awards in his name. The students listed below received the 2022 Darrell Hodson Awards.
