Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Boyd
Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Boyd, 97, of Kokomo, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Waterford Place Health System. She was born April 15, 1927, in Poseyville, to Gottlieb and Mary (Dawson) Wolf, Jr. On November 30, 1943, she married Norman L. Boyd, in Evansville, and he preceded her in death on January 9, 1998.
Betty graduated from Bosie High School in Evansville. She worked for Joy Ann Bakery for 20 years before retiring and also enjoyed babysitting. She and Norman loved going fishing and camping. She was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church.
Survivors include her sons, Robert (Jeannie) Boyd and William (Beth) Boyd; grandchildren, Brett Boyd, Thomas Smith, Kim Robinson, and Allison Turner; fourteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and Charles Wolf.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Sunset Memory Cemetery, 2097 W. Alto Rd., Kokomo, with her grandson, Brett Boyd, officiating. Betty Ann (Walker) Keller
Betty Ann (Walker) Keller, 85, of Kokomo, passed away 1:45 pm Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Century Villa Health Care in Greentown. She was born in Kokomo, IN, on January 18, 1939, the daughter of the late George Walker and Annabell (Webb) Walker Graham. On July 6, 1957, she married Jack Keller Sr., and he preceded her in death on November 30, 2013.
Betty attended Kokomo High School. She devoted a lot of time and effort to raising her four children and being a homemaker. She kept the household functioning while her husband Jack was away on several deployments in the United States Navy. Betty was a kind and sweet lady who always found ways to care for other people. Her favorite hobbies were fishing, cooking, sewing, and gardening. She was a member of the Galveston American Legion Post #415, the Kokomo Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Navy Wives Club.
Betty is survived by her children, Jack (Karen) Keller, Kim (Rick) Acord, Tracy (Byron) Gibson; grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) McFadden, Amie McFadden, Brandon Keller, Joshua Keller, Heather (Charlie) Kirby, Nate (Mary Pat) Acord, Dustin Paul, Ashleigh Gibson, Cody (Mikara) Gibson, Korey Keller, Kasey Keller, Karah Chase; numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Kurt Keller; grandson, Austin Keller; siblings, Carolyn Duncan, Marilyn Thomas, Susan Frank, and Mike Walker.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 am to Noon Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory – Jefferson Street Chapel, 414 West Jefferson Street, Kokomo, IN 46901. Funeral service will begin Noon on Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery.
Donna Kay Teter
Donna Kay Teter was born June 5, 1942, and passed away April 15, 2024, in Kokomo. She was the daughter of Earl Raymond and Maxine (Burton) Teter and spent most of her life in Goldsmith.
Donna was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School class of 1961. She was a hairdresser graduating from the House of James Beauty School. She had her own beauty shop in Goldsmith before continuing to Tipton. She was also well known for her talents at cake decorating and catering and the many get togethers at her house. You never left hungry or bored. Donna also donated many hours to Old Settlers get togethers. She loved to play games and being with her friends.
Donna is survived by her brother, Bob (Mary) Teter; nieces and nephews, Missy (Mike) Scott, Patty (Troy) Stage, Eric (Lisa) Teter, Doug (Joya) Teter, Chad Teter, Angie Brown, Beth Brown, and Shelly Brown; 10 great nieces and nephews; 10 great great nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Lynn Hazelbaker; and Goddaughter, Donna Jean Penick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Danny, and Mike; sister, Kathy Brown; and special cat, Half Pint “H.P.”
Donna was a member of the Goldsmith Methodist Church and will be laid to rest in Tetersburg Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Tetersburg Christian Church, 1887 S. 725 W., Tetersburg. Please come and enjoy a meal and fellowship with friends. Jimmie Joe Scott
Jimmie Joe Scott, 81 of Tipton died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Celina, Tennessee on June 3, 1942, to Oss and Ready (Morris) Scott. On Valentine’s Day in 1990, he married Sue Landseadel, spending 34 years together.
Jimmie was the owner and operator of Jim’s Northside Phillips 66 Gas Station. He was an excellent mechanic by any measure. He enjoyed working on his customers automobiles and in turn, he gained a well-respected reputation for his expertise. Jimmie was a member of the Quartermilers Automotive Club. He was an avid race car fan and enjoyed running the dragster on the quarter mile track. Jimmie would often be found at his favorite fishing hole. He and Sue would also travel to Dale Hollow twice a year to hone up on his fishing skills.
Survivors include his wife Sue, children Jimmie Joe Scott, Jr. and wife Sherry of Noblesville, Robin Ann Smith and husband Dan of Tipton, Bobby Scott of Tipton, Andy Griffith and wife Pat of Charlotte, NC, Amy Hunter of Tipton and Wendy Jackson and husband Mike of Tipton. His grandchildren include: Charlie Scott, Chase Scott, Jimmie Joe Scott III, Sean Smith, Khloe Scott, Devin Griffith, Ty Griffith, Kalli Griffith, Brock Griffith (Kelsey), Alexis Waites (Eric Ragan and son Owen), Calin Ballinger, Axle Hunter, Kristofer Jackson and Keaton Jackson. His great-grandchildren: Eli, McKala and McKinzi Taylor, Alex Smith, Nico Pearson, Abraham and Zeb Griffith, Baby Girl Martin and Hayden Martin, Raina Hawkins, Ann Ree Hawkins, Nova Skye Hawkins, Isla Griffith, Kylie Kay Griffith, and Finley Smith.
He was preceded in death by his 13 siblings.

Allison Eileen Ward
Allison Eileen Ward, a cherished beacon of creativity and love, passed away peacefully at her birthplace in Kokomo, IN, on April 16, 2024, at the age of 58. Born on August 26, 1965, to the late Grace and Thomas Maurer, Allison's life was a vivid tapestry of passion, family, and artistic expression.
Allison's early years were spent in the nurturing environment of Kokomo, where she attended Kokomo High School, laying the foundation for a life filled with curiosity and learning. Her youthful spirit was a light that continued to shine brightly throughout her life, guiding her path and touching all who knew her.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Allison's legacy is carried on through her loving children, Autumn Colbert, Victor Ward, and his wife Natasha, and Chelsie Michael, alongside her husband Bryck. Her grandchildren, Bryce, Kitalynn, Jack, Jasmine, Zion, Sofia, Bentley, Emmitt, and Nolan, were the apples of her eye, each holding a special place in her heart. Allison's nurturing presence will be profoundly missed by her brother Steven Maurer, and her sister Eva Kelley, with her husband Leslie, who together shared the bonds of sibling love and cherished memories.
Allison's creative spirit found its expression through her love of art, which was as much a part of her as her own heartbeat. Her garden was a canvas of colors and fragrances where she spent countless hours cultivating beauty and serenity. An avid cook, she delighted in preparing meals that were as much a feast for the eyes as for the palate, often sharing these culinary creations during cookout parties with family and friends.
Bird and butterfly watching brought her immense joy, as she found peace in the simplicity and splendor of nature. Her love for photography captured the fleeting moments of life, preserving them for eternity. Music was another source of joy for Allison; it accompanied her through life's chores and moments of reflection, always providing a backdrop to her vibrant life.
Described by those who knew her as creative, spirited, and loving, Allison's presence was a gift to the world. Her spirit, a blend of strength and gentleness, inspired those around her to embrace life with open arms and to find beauty in the everyday.
Allison's journey on this earth may have concluded, but her spirit remains an indelible mark on the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return. As the sun sets on her time with us, we are comforted by the memories and the love that will forever bloom in the gardens of our hearts, just as they did in the one she so tenderly nurtured.
Allison was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Thomas Maurer, and her sisters, Emma and Mary. Her story, woven with threads of love and creativity, will be told for generations as her family and friends continue to celebrate her remarkable life. Allison Eileen Ward's legacy is one of love, art, and the enduring power of family – a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Sandra Joan “Sandy” Smith
Sandra Joan “Sandy” Smith, 56, of Kokomo, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC, on April 19, 1967, to Walter and Lola (Bilby) Baker.
Sandy graduated from Tri-Central High School in 1985. She had a great sense of humor and loved to play Bingo and do crafts. Sandy loved spending time with her grandchildren, and she loved animals, especially her dogs. She was an incredible mother; even though she only had two sons of her own, there were many children in her life, throughout the years, that called her “mom.” Sandy lived a simple life, but her life and her love impacted so many others.
Sandy is survived by her sons, Matthew (Angela) Baker and James Smith; grandchildren, Beauti, Noah, Josiah, and Genesis; siblings, Karen (Joe) Goodman and Mark Baker; many nieces and nephews; “special” friend of 32 years, Mona; beloved dog and cat, Kali and Beerus; and a countless number of “adopted” children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Diana Fletcher, Jan Nelson, Michael Baker, and Timothy (Debbie) Baker; and her dog- “soulmate”, Pagan Marie.

Kelly Eugene Piatt
Kelly Eugene Piatt, 62, Kokomo, passed away at 1:00 am Sunday, April 14, 2024, at his home. He was born July 11, 1961, in Peru, IN, the son of the late Henry Lester Piatt and Joetta R. (Tharp) Hinson. On September 20, 1989, in Florida, he married Judy Wyatt, and she survives.
Kelly loved fishing and watching his favorite shows on TV such as, Swamp Men, Cops and Walker, Texas Rangers.
Along with his wife, Judy, Kelly is also survived by his children, Michael Piatt Rosemont, Rebecca Piatt Rosemont and Matthew Piatt; siblings, David (Jo Ann) Saylor, Julie Saylor and Nathan Saylor; brothers-in-law, Rick (Tamara) Wilks and Eddie Wyatt, along with several nieces and nephews; and cousin, Bruce Tharp.
Kelly was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Mary Wyatt.
