Laura Yvonne England
Laura Yvonne England, 66, unexpectedly passed away and went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2023, at 10:30 pm in Kokomo, Indiana. She was born on December 11, 1956, in Adel, Georgia, the daughter of the late James and Shirley Glasgow. On October 14, 1988, she married her loving husband, Joe England Sr. who was her soul mate, partner in crime and best friend. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2022.
Laura enjoyed being a homebody. She had a huge family that loved her and Joe. You could always find her watching old TV shows and horror movies snuggled in bed with her tablet in her lap. Her favorite TV show was Days of Our Lives and the Three Stooges. She enjoyed cookouts with her family, coloring, playing with her grandkids and listening to Journey and Eminem. She enjoyed drinking beer and at times good company. She was known as Aunt Laura to many people. She was known for her sense of humor, honesty and never afraid to speak her mind. She definitely didn’t have a filter and wasn’t afraid to show tough love. Laura loved her kids and grandkids as they were her whole life. Most importantly she was the best mother and grandmother to her family.
Laura is survived by her sisters, Cathy (Terry) Roberts and Ginger Johnson, Moultrie GA; daughter, Tonya Sullivan (fiancé, Randy Seibert) Moultrie, GA; sons, Michael Glasgow, (fiancé, Kathy Vinson), Moultrie, GA, Joey (Christina) England, Auburn, IN, Robbie Watson (fiancé, Kristy Ryker), Jerry Sharp (fiancé, Lawanna Davis) and Ricky (Kristin) Willis; grandchildren, Devin Watson (fiancé, Elizabeth Bales), Austin Watson (girlfriend, Kaylynn Liscombe), Skylynn Bailey, Maliki Ruckman, Kymberly Drake, Chance England, Ricky Cyphers, Mersadie Rowe, Gage Kent, Brayan Braswell, Braxton Glasgow, Haven Glasgow, Baily Glasgow, Hayley Glasgow, Moultrie, GA; great-grandchildren, Dakota Watson, Kokomo and River Rowe, Moultrie, GA, and many nieces and nephews.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe England Sr.; and brother, James (Chris) Glasgow.
Laura’s family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who has reached out to the family during this difficult time. The family has decided to do a celebration of life at a later date and will keep family and loved ones informed of the arrangements. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation.
Junior Leroy Colter
Junior Leroy Colter, age 92, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 10:09 A.M. at his residence at Jefferson Manor. He was born to the late Grover and Ada Pearl (Moore) Colter on October 2, 1930 in Kokomo, Indiana. Leroy married Roberta (Sagarsee) Colter on March 3, 1950 in Kokomo, and she preceded him in death on November 20, 2019.
Leroy graduated from Kokomo High School in 1949. He was the owner of Colter Construction and Realty for many years and built homes in the Kokomo area. He was a member of the Kokomo Noon Kiwanis Club since 1967, where he served as past president in 1983 and had perfect attendance for 37 years. Leroy was a past member of Trinity Wesleyan Church and most recently attended First Church of the Nazarene. Leroy enjoyed music and loved to sing hymns. He liked to play golf with his friends and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially when it was sunny. Above all, Leroy loved God and cherished all time spent with his family.
Leroy is survived by his four sons, David (Rita), Dennis, Steve (Cheri), Jeff, and only daughter, Sharon (Alan) Myers. He has 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and was expecting his first great-great grandchild in September.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Carroll, Carmon, James, Lewis, Leslie, and Richard and a sister, Doris.
There will be a time of visitation for Leroy on Wednesday, April 12 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, 3400 South Webster Kokomo. Rev. Steven Colter, his son, will be officiating. Burial will follow to Albright Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leroy's memory to the Kokomo Noon Kiwanis Foundation, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
