Wayne Curtis Fields Sr.
Wayne Curtis Fields Sr., at 74 years of age, went home to be with his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. On Saturday, August 19, 2023, in the early hours of the morning he took his last breath while resting peacefully in the home of his youngest son and daughter-in-law, located in Russiaville, IN.
Wayne Sr. was born on December 20, 1948, in Monroe County, Maryville, TN to the late Mr. & Mrs. Lee Otis Sr. and Willie Mae Anderson Fields. He married the love of his life Susie Ruth McClory on November 10, 1972, in Greentown, IN. Wayne Sr. had a relentless drive to provide for his family in both Indiana and Tennessee alike. While he may have had a rough exterior to some, his children and grandchildren knew how big his heart was as they were at the center of it.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1975 in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart along with an Honorable Discharge. In conjunction with his prior service, he served in the U.S. National Guard from 1970-1974. From there, he worked 30 years at Chrysler and retired in 2003.
Wayne Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, (Lee Otis Sr. & Willie Mae); His loving wife, Susie Ruth McClory Fields; his brothers, (Junior, Benton, Jim, Jarvis, & Andrew); his sisters, (Pat, Gayle Hill, & infant sister); his nephews, (Christopher Anderson & Kenny Fields); his brother-in-law, (Mayford Hill); and his sister-in-law, (Beverly Fields).
Wayne Sr. leaves behind his children Wayne Curtis Jr. (Amanda) Fields, Stacy Sue Fields (Jerry Cannon), and Joseph Ryan (Megan) Fields. In his passing, he has left behind 12 grandchildren Elijah (Makinsey), Lily, Isaiah, Elizabeth, Ethan, Gentry, Paisley, Betsy, Norah, Katie, and Silas. In addition, he’s left behind 4 sisters Jane (John) Tyler, Peggy (Randy) Brewer, Febia Fields, sister-in-law Rose Fields, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services honoring Wayne Sr’s life will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road with Bill Meiring officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
