Seymour “Cye” Zwirn
Seymour “Cye” Zwirn, 100, Kokomo, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2023, at Primrose of Kokomo. He was born August 18, 1923, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Peter and Rose (Kreisler) Zwirn. On December 26, 1947, he married Roberta “Bobbie” Zwirn, who preceded him in death on July 24, 2009.
Cye was a 1941 graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School. He then attended Colgate University, the University of North Carolina, Massachusetts State Teachers College, and Indiana Business College. Cye served in the United States Navy as a Naval Aviator on the USS Midway from 1942-1947, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. In 1984, he retired as a manager of Systems and Procedures at Cabot International, now known as Haynes International, after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Fair Havens Alliance Church. He was the past president of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers, Youth for Christ, Christian Businessmen’s Committee, Kokomo Rescue Mission and the Salvation Army, where he served as a board member for many years. Cye was an avid golfer and gardener.
Cye was often heard to say, “I am a blessed man”.
Cye is survived by his children, Judith (Steve) Kellett of Noblesville, IN, John (Dorothy) Zwirn of Swayzee, IN, and Beth (Greg) Carter of Albany, IN; 8 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Roberta, Cye was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Molly, Sophie, Esther, Lillian, and Herb.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Friday, September 1, 2023, at Fair Havens Christian Missionary Alliance, 1216 Co. Rd. 300 W., Russiaville, with Cye’s son, John Zwirn officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 am until the start of the service on Friday, at the church. Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements. Richard L. Cottingham
Richard L. Cottingham, 83, was surrounded by his family when he went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, August 27, 2023. He was born on April 24, 1940 to Marble F. and Flossie E. (Graves) Cottingham. On August 5, 1967 he married the love of his life, Linda D. (Nelson) and she survives.
In 1958 Richard enlisted in the U.S. Marines in San Diego, California. He later received a Medical Honorable Discharge.
Before retiring in 1996, Richard worked for Delco Electronics for 31 years.
He was a hard worker and there wasn't much he couldn't do. He took pride in everything he put his hands on, but his pride and joy were his daughter, Michelle. He called her "punkin" and "daddy's girl".
He loved his son-in-law Scott as his very own son. They had a very special bond.
Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting skeet, playing pool, watching IU Basketball, Colts Football, watching NASCAR, and the Little League World Series with his wife. He was also on a bowling league for several years. As of late he enjoyed his Sudoku puzzles every morning. He also loved to color. His coloring books looked better than a professional artist.
Surviving along with his wife, Linda are his daughter, Michelle and husband, Scott; sisters, Norma Wheeler, Lois Shuck, Betty Flook, Gloria Ailor; brother, Paul Cottingham; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, James and Peggy Nelson; brothers, Raymond, Bob, Everett, Wilbur, Little Junie; sister, Mary Graves; brothers-in-law, Paul Shuck, Paul Graves, Ron Flook, Bud Wheeler, Jim Ailor; sisters-in-law, Alice, Ruth, Norma Jean, Ruth, Bonnie Cottingham.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to his favorite Paradigm Hospice Nurse, Jeff Louks who was like a friend to him and took very special care of him. Thank you to all of the other nurses.
A visitation will take place at Eller's Mortuary and Cremation Center, 3400 S. Webster, Kokomo, on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 12:00 pm until the start of funeral services at 2:00 pm. Alisha Marie Glassburn
Alisha Marie Glassburn, age 45, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
A visitation for Alisha will be held Friday, September 1, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary & Crematory Center, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. A service will not be following her visitation at the family's request.

Edward “Eddie” Lee Baker
Edward “Eddie” Lee Baker, 91, of Kokomo, passed away at 10:07 am on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Community Howard Regional Health Hospital. He was born in McGrawsville, Indiana, on December 29, 1931, the son of Walter and Esther (Layden) Baker. He married Carolyn Jean Proctor on December 10, 1950. They were married for 25 years. They had four children together, Deborah, Michelle, Stephanie and John. On August 14, 1976, he married Marijo Main. They raised her four daughters Melinda, Melissa, Michelle and Vicky. They were married for 41 years. She preceded him in death in 2017.
Eddie graduated from Clay Township High School in 1950 then attended Indiana University Kokomo. He worked at Delco Electronics for over 40 years and retired in 1995. Prior to working at Delco Electronics, he worked at Montgomery Wards and owned El Compadre Restaurant. Eddie loved to cook and travel to see his family all over the country. He was a Purdue certified master gardener, member of the Indiana Rose Society, and Converse Masonic Lodge. He was one of the founding members of the Howard County Community Garden. Eddie could build anything and even built the home that they raised their family in. He was a member of the Connextion Church.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:00am- 11:30 am on Saturday, Sept. 2, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo. A brief eulogy will take place at 11:30 AM led by Pastor Jim Richey. A graveside service will follow at Albright Cemetery

Mary Evelyn Scarborough
Mary Evelyn Scarborough, née Grimes, 95, Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Kokomo, IN, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the home of her daughter, Cynthia Scarborough, after an extended illness She was born May 1, 1928, in Augusta, GA to the late Adam and Dora (Mixon) Grimes, Sr. On July 9, 1953 she married Charles C. Scarborough, Sr. who preceded her in death on April 17, 2004 after 50 years of marriage.
Mary was a graduate of Lucy Laney High School and went on to further her education at Paine College in Augusta, GA. She graduated from Paine College in Augusta, GA in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in English and minoring in Education. Mary was a United States Army veteran. Mary honorably served our country in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC), now known as the United States Army, from 1951 to 1954 in an ACTIVE DUTY status during the Korean War era. Mary was trained in Hospital Administration and stationed at Fort Dix, NJ. Mary received the National Defense Medal for her service in the Korean War era and an Honorable Discharge from the United States Women’s Army Corps in 1954.
When her husband, Charles, Sr. retired from his final military duty station, U.S. Air Force at Grissom AFB, IN, and after being militarily stationed at a number of Air Force Bases across the United States and abroad, they moved their family to Kokomo, IN. Mary worked for 35-years as a Children’s Librarian at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library retiring in 2004. Mary was regularly featured in Kokomo Tribune news articles during her professional career at the Kokomo Library and well-known for her dedication to both the students and teachers of Kokomo; Call-A-Story taped readings; Children’s Summer Reading Club; and Children’s Story Hours. She was active and well-regarded and recognized in the Kokomo School Corporation for developing Library Book collections for teachers on a regular basis. She selected five books for each of (her) children every week. Mary was also an active member of the Wayman Chapel AME Church serving in many capacities – Stewardess Board, Missionary Society, Children’s Leader, Church Building Fund Raising, and Sunday School Teacher. She was awarded the “Women of Wayman Trailblazer Award”. She was an active member of the Kokomo School Board Textbook Selection Commission; and involved in civically minded activities as Voting Poll Worker and Cub Scout Den Mother.
Mary loved art, literature, poetry, theatrical plays, gardening, boating, and fishing, and travel.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory children, Rhonda K. Scarborough, J.D. Washington, DC; Charles C. (Darlene) Scarborough, Jr Kokomo, IN; Cynthia M. Scarborough, Indianapolis, IN; Avistine Y. (Fabian Cook, Sr) Scarborough-Cook, Hinesville, GA; Richard M. (Robin) Scarborough, Nashville, TN; and Cecil X. (Natasha Brown) Scarborough, Lompoc, CA; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Charles Scarborough, Jr (son) and Cynthia Scarborough (daughter) were the dedicated caregivers for their mother, Mary, over the course of 20-years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Gladys Clark, Willie Joe Morris, Jerry Mixon, Elizabeth Hall, and Adam Grimes, II, Verdery Gilchrist Knights.
Funeral services celebrating Mary’s homegoing will be at 11:00 am Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Wayman AME Chapel, 920 North Apperson Way, Kokomo, IN with Rev. William L. Gary officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 am until 11:00 am service time Saturday, Sep 2, 2023, at Wayman Chapel. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Army and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Flowers, cards, etc., may be sent Wayman AME Chapel.

Edna Frances Kidwell
Edna Frances Kidwell, age 98, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023 at home, surrounded by her family. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, TOPS, and a Lifetime Member of the VFW Auxiliary Team. She was an avid bowler her whole life.
Edna loved her family very much, and she is survived by her sons Jack, John (Marcia), Jeff, James (Jinx), Joel (Kelly); daughters, Judith, Joy and Julie; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grands.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ada Armstrong; her husband of 32 years, Paul W. Kidwell; sons, Jerry and Paul; daughter, Jenness Rybolt; as well as 5 brothers, 1 sister, 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and 1 great-granddaughter.
A time of visitation for Edna will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ellers Mortuary & Crematory Center, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
Edna will be laid to rest in Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E 38th St., Marion, IN 46953, immediately following the funeral service.
