Janise Kay Cox
Janise Kay Cox, 82, Kokomo, passed away at 6:08 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. She was born January 19, 1941 in Lebanon, IN, the daughter to the late Gifford and Georgia E. (Turner) Cox.
Janise Kay was a 1959 graduate of Kirklin High School and Indiana Business College, earning her Associate’s degree. She started her banking career at First National Bank in Kokomo. She then worked at Greentown State Bank, and Union Bank which later sold to Key Bank, retiring after 40 years of service. After retiring from Key Bank, she went back to work for Crume-Evans Insurance and retired 17 years ago. Kay was a lover of nature and dogs and was considered the genealogy master of the family. She was fun, loving, and had a great sense of humor. Kay enjoyed laughing, a good joke, fishing, bingo, wildlife, and her family. She was a great person; being very confident in her opinions. Kay was like a second mother to Bruce.
Kay is survived by her sister, Judy (James) Newlin, brother, Bruce (Elizabeth) Cox; nephews, Doug (Pam) Newlin, Josh and Matt Cox; along with 6 grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her niece, Erin Cottrell; and grand-niece, Meghan Newlin.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Kay’s nephew, Matt Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12 p.m. until the start of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Jimmy Dean “Jim” Bowman
Jimmy Dean “Jim” Bowman, 68, Greentown, passed away at 10:20 am Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. He was born October 15, 1954, in Peru, IN, the son of Eugene & Betty Lou (See) Bowman.
Jim was a 1973 graduate of Kokomo High School. He adored his grandchildren and was always there for his family. Jim was a hardworking man who enjoyed cookouts and going to the James Dean Festival.
Jim is survived by his father, Eugene Bowman; children, Jonathan (Maciah) Bowman and Alison (Craig) Hulsey; grandchildren, Kindrea, Elijah, Chad, Cason, Payton and Henry; siblings, Nancy Wells, Kim Hagard, Mike Bowman and Donald Bowman.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lou Bowman; and brothers, Danny, Dennis and Richard Bowman.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main Street, Greentown, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating.
