Marcella Will
Marcella Will, 83, Elgin, ND, passed away at 4:57 pm Friday, February 10, 2023, at Legacy Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born October 28, 1939, in New Leipzig, ND, the daughter of the late John & Emma (Sprecher) Verworn. On June 12, 1959, in New Leipzig, she married Ernest H. “Ernie” Will who preceded her in death on June 25, 2001.
Marcella worked at Shirley’s Mopp Shopp for several years before opening her own shop, Marcella’s Mopp Shopp, in her home basement, which she ran for more than 30 years. Marcella and Ernest had three children whom they enjoyed watching participate in many sporting activities. Marcella loved flowers and gardening. Her home was always prepared to welcome anyone for a meal of German food, homemade sausage, pickles and canned goods. After Ernie’s passing, Marcella continued to live in Elgin. She enjoyed gardening and grew amazing roses, loved cooking, spending time with family and going on trips.
Marcella is survived by her children, Julie (Perry) Martinson, Wesley (Kay) Will and Shari Will; grandchildren, Aaron and Karla Martinson, Eric (Cassandra) Will and Nicole Will; siblings, Wilbert (Florence) Verworn, Ronald (Linda) Verworn and Ardella “Dee” (Dennis) Koryenta; sisters-in-law, Opal (Leonard) Roth and Dorothy Will, along with many nieces and nephews.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernie; brother, John (Phyllis) Verworn; parents-in-law, Edward and Clara Will; brother-in-law, Emanuel Will; and sister-in-law, Violet (Bob) Geyer.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Joyce Harris officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12:30 pm until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be held in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Marcella’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
