Carol Ann Calabro
Carol Ann Calabro, 90, Kokomo, passed away at 2:38 a.m., on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. She was born on July 19, 1934, the daughter of Glen F. and Sarah Jane (Chriss) Ray. On October 29, 1955, she married James E. Calabro at St. Patrick Church in Terre Haute, IN. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2010.
Carol was a 1952 graduate from Blackhawk High School in Riley, IN. She graduated from Indiana State Teacher’s College (later Indiana State University) with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She decided to postpone her teaching career and instead dedicated her early years to her family as a stay-at-home mom. Later, after the children were grown, Carol taught at Lincoln Elementary School in Kokomo. After the family moved to Milwaukee, WI, in June of 1980, she taught at St. Gregory the Great Catholic School. In 1993, when she and her husband decided to retire and return to Kokomo, she worked as a substitute teacher at the local Catholic schools.
Carol was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kokomo. For a time, she and her husband were actively involved with the church, volunteering their time and talent on several committees. Carol always enjoyed reading, cooking. and baking. Carol was the consummate teacher and loved spending time with her grandchildren, turning their time together into teachable moments. She enjoyed a tidy home and will be remembered for her love of cleaning.
Carol is survived by her children Jim (Donna) Calabro, Chris (Dan Baron) Calabro, and Michael Calabro, grandchildren Sancia (Matt) Tonn, James (Katy) Calabro III, Vincent (Dr. Rosemary) Calabro, and Katharine (Ryne) Sanders, great-granddaughter, Eleanor Calabro, plus several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, her son John, and siblings Ronald Ray, William Ray, Jeanette Williams, and Larry Ray.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wellbrooke, especially Michelle and Paula, and the staff of Compasses Hospice, especially Mary Anne, Judy, Shyanna, and Beth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, February 14, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street, Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. David Huemmer as celebrant. Burial will follow at Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit the family from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the church. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home are entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s memory to the Monastery of the Poor Clares, 1175 County Rd 300 W, Kokomo, IN 46901. Debra Faye Hickey
Debra Faye Hickey, 67, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on February 10, 2025. She was born on April 30, 1957, in Kokomo, Indiana, the daughter of Samuel and Patsy (Roberts) Bryant. Debra worked for General Motors until her retirement in 2015. She was devoted to spending time and taking care of her family. She also loved dancing no matter where she was. She also enjoyed going to ball games and traveling.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Cameron Hickey, Samantha (Gabrielle Grygotis) Hickey, father Sam, and siblings Terry Bryant, Pam Heady, Janine (Steve) Crane, Linda Goodnight, and Brenda (Terry) Shafer.
She was preceded in death by her mother Patsy Bryant, sister Billie Hunter, and aunt Mattie Sue Bryant.
Visitation will take place from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2025, at Ellers Mortuary & Cremation Center. Z’ylla Lotte Becraft
Z’ylla Lotte Becraft, 1 month, Kokomo, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born January 1, 2025, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Devontize Phillips and Brianna Becraft.
Z’ylla will be missed by her parents Devontize (Samari Copprue) Phillips and Brianna (Timothy Moore) Becraft, siblings Devontize Phillips Jr., Devari Phillips, Zi’air Becraft, Daylan Phillips, and Jy’ree Harmon-Becraft, grandparents Lori Green, Otis (Rita) Green, and Tashema Maddox, great-grandmother Breanda Bennett, aunts and uncles Christopher (Molly) Becraft, De’aolo Nelson, and Detario Scott, along with lots of cousins and God-mom Erica Nelson.
Z’ylla was greeted in Heaven by her great-grandparents Irmgard and Herbert Becraft and Diane Harris.

Mary Frances Harrington
Mary Frances Harrington, 90, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on February 12, 2025. She was born on April 17, 1934, in Adele, Kentucky, the daughter of Daniel Marcus and Sara Ona (Hager) Dunn. She loved doing puzzle books and going to church. She also loved spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Kathy (Clell) McKinney, Linda Shaffer, Barb (Greg) King, and Jim (Lori) Harrington, 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, sister Mattie Dunn Parks, and close friend Tony Floyd.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Walter, two great-grandchildren, and six brothers.

Tonnetta “Toni” Harrell
Tonnetta “Toni” Harrell, 98, of Kokomo, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Waterford Place of Kokomo. She was born on December 22, 1926, the daughter of the late Ernest and Garnell (McGraw) Horoho.
Toni graduated from New London High School in 1944. She retired in 1986 after being a Skilled Clerk for nearly 37 years at Cabot Corp., which is now Hayes International. Toni enjoyed reading, working puzzles, gardening, cooking, making noodles, baking Zucchini bread, and cooking for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Haynes Quarter Century Club, and the Friends of Kokomo Library.
Toni is survived by her twin daughters Sandra (Rick) Dwyer and Ginger (Bill) Conaway, daughter-in-law Ann Wells, grandchildren Jason Dwyer, Kim (Brad) Williams, Kristy (Jim) Fortune, Kip (Jill) Conaway, Kelly Schnieder, and Wade Wells, great-grandchildren George Dwyer, Aiyana Robertson, Palmer Williams, Kinzie Conaway, Troy Conaway, Shelby Conaway, Trevor Fortune, Brooke Spell, Tara Schnieder, and Kurt Schnieder, brother Merrill (Marge) Horoho, and sister-in-law Opal Horoho.
Along with her parents Ernest and Garnell Horoho, Toni is preceded in death by her sons Mark Werking and Roger Wells, sister Tudy Bogue, and brothers Douglas Horoho, Malcolm Horoho, and Ernest “Pete” Horoho.
