Doris “Rene” Irene Nickel
Doris “Rene” Irene Nickel, 88, Kokomo, passed away at 9:49 am Sunday, February 18, 2024. She was born June 28, 1935, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Ova and Doris (Beaman) Woods. On October 14, 2014, she married Don Hutton, and he survives.
Rene served at Delco Electronics, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Fraternal Order Eagles Women’s Auxiliary, and UAW Local 292. Rene enjoyed cross-stitching, crocheting, sitting on her front porch, and spending time with her great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Don, Rene is survived by her children, Nancy Collins, Kent (Debbie) Foster, Kenny (Barbra) Foster, Kevin (Stephanie) Foster, and Barbara (Kurt) Gavina; grandchildren, Brittney (Nathan) Moss, Samantha (Brando) Wheeler, Brandon Collins, Erin (Matthew) Ortner, Michael Richey, Jusin, Joseph, Jeremiah, Jessie, Clayton, Courtney, Skylar, and Randi Foster; 11 additional grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lois Fontaine, and Vicki (Harold) Bottoms.
Rene was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Daniel “Nick” Nickel; 2nd husband, Max Lacy; daughter, Doris E. Foster; stepson, Donald Hutton; grandson, Brian Hutton; great-grandson, Connor Collins; and brother, Harold Woods.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Paradigm Hospice and Rene’s caregivers, Jeff, Molly, and Barbara for their special care.
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Steve Allen and Pastor Terry Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 am Thursday until the start of the service. Nancy Lynn (Miller) Moon
Nancy Lynn (Miller) Moon, age 73, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. She was born on May 14, 1950 to her parents, Carl Miller and Geneva (Williams) Miller. Nancy married Wayne Moon, and the two enjoyed many years of marriage before Wayne passed away in 2006.
Nancy was a 1968 graduate of Tipton High School. Through the years, Nancy worked for a couple of different manufacturing factories. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her son. She was a proud mom and was thankful for every moment spent with her family. Nancy enjoyed listening to music and was an avid reader. Before Wayne passed away, he and Nancy enjoyed watching all of the Colts & Pacers games. Nancy was a very sweet lady. She led a simple life and had an incredibly kind and genuine heart. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her!
Those left to carry on Nancy’s legacy of love are her son, Tony (Joy) Moon; grand-cats, Phoebe, Myles, Fiona; and brother, Carl “Eddie” Miller Jr.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Geneva Miller and husband, Wayne Moon.
A funeral service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main St. In Tipton, with Pastor David Mygrant officiating. Visitation for family and friends will take place prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held immediately following the service in Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Nancy’s honor can be made to the Humane Society of Hamilton County and St. Jude Children's Hospital. Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Moon family in their time of need.
Aldena Ruth Dillman Jordan
Aldena Ruth Dillman Jordan, 96, Joplin, MO, passed away at 3:30 am on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at her home. She was born in Goldsmith, IN on April 2, 1927, the daughter of the late Obadiah and Georgia (Smith) Dillman. She married Lyndall E. Jordan on June 19, 1955, and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2016.
Aldena graduated from Kokomo High School in 1945. She attended Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO, graduating from Lincoln Christian College in 1954. She worked alongside her husband at Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, TN as a volunteer for over four years. She was a charter member of the Judson Road Christian Church formerly the Kokomo Church of Christ. Aldena was active in the Christian Church and served in many capacities over the years.
Aldena is survived by her children, Mr. Jeffrey (Ann) Jordan, Mrs. Dena (Jim) Deweese, Mr. Gary Jordan, and Mr. David (Lisa) Jordan; grandchildren, Paul, Phillip, Racheal, Jonathan, David, Marisa and Bethany; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Monelle Bevington; four nieces and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brother-in-law, Mona and Bill Tullis.
A funeral service will take place at 1:30 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with her son Pastor David Jordan officiating. The funeral service will be live-streamed, and a link will be available at the bottom of her obituary page at 1:30 pm on Saturday. Burial will follow in Jackson Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the funeral home. Terry James Shaffer
Terry James Shaffer, age 42, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
A public visitation for Terry will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary and Cremation Center, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, IN. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, IN. A burial will occur Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Kokomo Memorial Park.
Billy D. Fisher
Billy D. Fisher, 77, of Kokomo, passed away at 5:01 pm on Monday, February 12, 2024, at his home. He was born June 22, 1947, in Kokomo, to Robert R. and Opal J. (DeLon) Fisher.
After high school, Billy joined the Army in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1969. Billy had worked at Delco Electronics/GM as an assembly worker. He enjoyed working on cars.
Billy is survived by his son, Chadd Fisher; grandson, Jonah Fisher; and brother, Robert "Bud" Fisher.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation.
Gil Marie Keith
Gil Marie Keith, 71, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away February 12, 2024. She was born on July 24, 1952 in Kokomo, IN the daughter of Gil and Christine (Wilkins) Keith.
Gil retired after 20 years of service from Chrysler. She loved her grandchildren and pet miniature Dachshunds. Gil had attended Zion Tabernacle for several years. Most recently she attended the Lighthouse church in Kokomo. During the past year, Gil lived at Howard Haven, and she appreciated the love and care they gave her.
Surviving relatives include her son, Patrick Keith (Mallory) of Kokomo, IN; grandchildren, Layla and Dominic; sisters, Rita Heath (Ben); Linda Keith; Susie Cooper (Carl); brothers, David Keith; Raymond Keith; special friend, Debra Free of Kokomo, IN and the team of Village Medical Care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Debbie Keith, brothers Clarence and Robert Keith.
