Thelma Ilen Cass
Thelma Ilen Cass, 96, of Kokomo, passed away at 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at her home. She was born June 23, 1927, in Center, to John and Onda (Jacobs) Duncan. On March 16, 1946, she married Eldon D. Cass, Sr., in Lafayette, and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1983.
Thelma graduated from Kokomo High School in 1945. In her younger years, she worked at Kingston Products, as a secretary, and at Hyndes Drug Store. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, going on vacation to relax and read, and loved anything to do with John Wayne. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed making her daughter’s clothing. Thelma made sure to enjoy some ice cream every night and chocolate pudding by day. She was a member of ConneXion Church, formerly Parr United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children, Eldon D. (Loveda) Cass, Jr. and Ellen Privett; six grandchildren, Bradley (Elizabeth) Cass, Stacey (Paul) Galo, Robin (Greg) Wilson, Andrea Scott, Peter (Christina) Jackson, and Joseph Jackson; and seven great-grandchildren, Braelin Cass, Grayson Cass, Christopher Wilson, Spencer Wilson, Andrew Scott, Joshua Scott, and Charlotte Jackson.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Penny Jackson; and brothers, John Duncan, Jr. and Joseph Duncan.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor James Richey officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery, 1300 E. Patricia “Patty” Marie Richman
Patricia “Patty” Marie Richman, 72, Kokomo, passed away at 11:37pm, Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Meadowbrook Assisted Living in Fishers, Indiana. Born in Logansport, Indiana on March 27, 1951, she was the daughter of Bud and Mary (Murphy) Brindle.
Patty graduated from Logansport High School in 1969. On May 19, 1977, she was married to Stephen “Steve” Kent Richman. Patty is a Delphi Delco retiree (2002), where her personality shined through various jobs at numerous plants. She was a woman of tremendous faith and was a proud breast cancer survivor. Her greatest joy in life was her family and spending time with them, especially her grandkids.
Patty was a self-taught craftsman who enjoyed making clocks, tables, and other items which she generously shared with anyone and everyone. Her outgoing, funny personality left a positive impression wherever she went. Never one to meet a stranger, she will be missed by many. This includes the breakfast crew and employees at Windmill Grill.
Along with her husband Steve of 46 years, she is also survived by her children, Denise (Kim) Henderson, Indianapolis, IN and Jed (Molly) Richman, Pendleton, IN; grandchildren, Jalen Hodges, Chicago, IL and J.R. and Toby Richman, Pendleton, IN; sisters, Karen (Gary) White, Mountain Home, AK and Judy Allison Rossville, GA; brother, Steve Brindle Rossville, GA; and many special nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Mary Murphy Brindle.
Funeral service will be held at Noon Monday, January 15, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Sarah Marie Webb
Sarah Marie Webb, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024, in Kokomo, IN, at the age of 30. Born on December 4, 1993, in Marion, IN, to Michael Byrd and Donna Webb, Sarah's vibrant spirit and selfless nature touched the lives of all who knew her.
Sarah grew up in a bustling household, cherished by her loving mother, Donna Webb. She was the heart of a large family, including her sisters Kaitlyn, Lori, Johnna, Amanda, Trisha, Amber, Courtney, and Megan, and her brothers Justin, Josh, Scott, Josh, Dillon, and Adam. Her grandmothers, Roberta Driscoll, Trisha VanCamp, and Jann Gallaway, along with her grandfather, Dennis Gallaway, held a special place in her life. Sarah's memory will be held dear by her many extended family members who admired her kindness and generosity. She now joins her father, Jeremy Gallaway, and grandparents, Don Webb, Paul Gallaway, Mary Gallaway, and Francis VanCamp, who preceded her in death.
A proud graduate of Kokomo High School's class of 2012, Sarah's passion for learning and creativity shone brightly throughout her academic journey. She carried this love of knowledge and artistic expression into every facet of her life.
Sarah's interests were as diverse as they were profound. She had an innate talent for art, which allowed her to express her innermost feelings and bring beauty into the world. Music was another avenue through which she connected with others, sharing melodies that resonated with the soul. Those who knew Sarah will remember her as the embodiment of kindness, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Her selflessness was a gift to her community, and her legacy of giving will continue to inspire.
Loving, funny, and selfless—these words encapsulate the essence of Sarah's character. Her infectious laughter could light up the darkest of rooms, and her love knew no bounds. Sarah's humor brought joy and comfort to her family and friends, making every moment spent with her a cherished memory.
As we say goodbye to Sarah Marie Webb, we celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the countless ways she enriched our lives. Her spirit, a guiding light of love and joy, will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. Sarah's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her story will continue to be told through the lives she impacted and the love she shared.
We bid farewell to a remarkable woman who lived fully, loved deeply, and laughed often. Sarah's presence will be deeply missed, but the warmth of her spirit will continue to embrace us all. May we find comfort in our memories and solace in the knowledge that her legacy of love and laughter will endure for generations to come.
A Visitation for Sarah will be held at Bridgeway Church; 1931 South Elizabeth St. in Kokomo, on Monday, January 15, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Crown Point Cemetery.

Richard “Dick” Ewing Smith
Richard “Dick” Ewing Smith, 92, of Kokomo, passed away 5:18 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent in Kokomo. He was born in Carroll County, on November 29, 1931, the son of the late Daniel and Deana (Ewing) Smith. On January 2, 1952, he married Betty Ellen Gustafson, and she survives. They have celebrated 72 years of marriage together.
Dick was a 1950 graduate of Burlington High School. He was a hard-working, lifetime farmer and also retired from Chrysler after 32 years of service. He proudly served our country in the United States Army where he assisted with large equipment mechanics. Dick will be remembered for being a jokester and having a fun sense of humor. He was a faithful member of the Flora United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Burlington Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Scottish Rite, and Knight’s Templer. Dick supported the Shriners Hospitals for Children and was a member of the Masonic “Tranquility” Lodge located on the moon.
In addition to his wife Betty, Dick is survived by his children, Dan (Beth) Smith, Steve (LaRonda) Smith, Amy (Kevin) White; grandchildren, Jessica Coyner, Katherine (Bryan) Will, Evan (Lindsay) Smith, Marcia (Brian) Moore, Sean (Jenny) Smith, Anna White, Alec White, Christian White; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and Jane and brother-in-law Richard McCain.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2024, at Flora United Methodist Church, 103 East Main Street, Flora, IN 46929. Paul Donald Gerhard
Paul Donald Gerhard, 74, Kokomo, passed away at 4:47 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Waterford Place Health Campus. He was born on November 22, 1949, to the late Richard Paul and Doris Marie (Levenduski) Gerhard. He married Vicki Hendrix on February 18, 1978, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, and she survives.
Paul graduated from Northwestern High School in 1967. He enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. He worked for Chrysler as a tool maker and retired after 37 years of service. Paul was a member of One Church and the NRA. He enjoyed being outside and gardening. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Along with his wife of 45 years, Vicki, Paul is survived by his children, April (Bill) Watson, and Matt Gerhard; grandchildren, Trevor (Amanda) Watson, and Allie Watson; great grandchildren, Emma and Oakley Watson; sister, Catherine (Harold) Eads; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Charles Gerhard.

Joan Etta Calvert
Joan Etta Calvert, 89, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away January 10, 2024. She was born on December 10, 1934, in Gary, Indiana the daughter of William and Ruth (Hood) Parks. Joan was a former receptionist for Dr. Tom Wachob in Kokomo.
Joan loved taking care of her family and spending time with them. Monthly family dinners were very important to her as well as going out to eat. Joan loved shopping and taking photos of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Steven Michael Calvert (Carol) of Brownsburg, IN; Brian Calvert of Kokomo, IN; Sherry Little of Kokomo, IN; five grandchildren, Courtney Carness (Brian); Brooke Clem (Jeremy); Justin Olin Sumner (Brandi) all of Kokomo, IN; Kristen Calvert of Valparaiso, IN; Amy Rhodes (Barry) of Brownsburg, IN; four great grandchildren, Riley Clem; London Bratz; Emily Mae Carness; Charlotte "Charlie" Rhodes; brothers, Jim and Don "Skeeter" Heater.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Dorsey Olin Calvert.

Deborah “Deb” Elaine (Leisure) Smith
Deborah “Deb” Elaine (Leisure) Smith, 71, of Russiaville, passed away 10:23 pm Monday January 8, 2024, at her home. She was born in Howard Co., on January 29, 1952, the daughter of the late Howard Leisure Sr. and Gloria (Glass) Leisure. On June 17, 1972, she married Robert “Bob” Smith, and he survives.
Deb was a 1970 graduate of Taylor High School, and she attended Indiana Business College. She retired from Delco Electronics in 2005 after 35 years of service in the packaging and shipping department. She was a member of Parr United Methodist Church, which later became The ConneXion Church – North Campus. She loved attending her sons’ races and her grandchildren’s ball games. Deb liked riding the motorcycle with her husband.
In addition to her husband Bob, Deb is survived by her sons, Corey (Brandy) Smith, Dustin (Melissa) Smith; grandchildren, CJ Smith, Catie Smith, Torrie Smith, Madyson Smith; siblings, Howard (Marilyn) Leisure Jr., David Leisure, Tonita (Barry) Brantley, Carmelita (Charlie) Stroud, Brian (Yvonne) Leisure, Damon (Crissie) Leisure; sister-in-law, Carol Leisure; numerous nieces and nephews; and good friend, Gloria Mote.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dennis Leisure; sister-in-law, Phyllis Leisure; niece, Tina Ladd; and nephew, Coby Stroud.

James M. Collins
James M. Collins, 47, of Kokomo, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Community Heart & Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on October 31, 1976, in Kokomo, the son of Gerald W. Collins and Deborah K. (Gillis) Councill.
James attended Culver City High School in Culver City, CA. He currently worked at Walmart as a stocker. James enjoyed playing video games with his oldest son and 9-year-old twins. He also enjoyed playing with the family cats. He just enjoyed being at his flat with his family.
Survivors include his mother, Deborah K. Councill; father, Gerald W. Collins; fiancé, Mayra Campos; children, James D. Collins, Linda M. Collins, Logan M. Collins, and Anthony Ingram; stepchildren Aleena Calderon, Nathlie Calderon, and Melody Calderon; siblings, Ashly Collins Marquez and Daniel K. Collins; and nephews, Jesse Marquez, Antonio G. (Jennifer) Collins, and Joseph (Angel) Marquez-Collins.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd, Kokomo, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating.
