Dorsey Hurl Rhoades
Dorsey Hurl Rhoades, 91, Kokomo, passed away at 5:35 pm on Wednesday June 28, 2023, at his home. He was born in Warsaw, IN. on November 24, 1931, the son of the late Sherman and Iva Ann (Montel) Rhoades. He married Barbara Sorrell in Kokomo, on October 6, 1998, and she survives.
Dorsey graduated from Chester High School in 1951. He served in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Buck Sergeant. He worked for Pierceton Trucking Company and retired after 30 years of service. Dorsey was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He and Barbara spent the winters in Florida at the Wesleyan Village Community and Church.
Dorsey is survived by his wife, Barbara Rhoades; children, Marla (Scott) LaRue, James (Donna) Rhoades, David Rhoades, Lisa (Jeff) Cassell, Linda (James) Brantley, and Crystal (Ken) Zentz; grandchildren, Aaron (Stephanie) Yentes, Phillip (Vanessa) Yentes, Christopher (Ashlie) LaRue, Joshua (Renee) LaRue, Kaitlyn LaRue, Donell (Alberto) Ortega, Rachel (Wesley) Evans, Jeffrey (Alli) Rhoades, Elisha Granadas, Amanda Aust, Travis (Deborah Jackson) Aust, Zachary (Becky) Clemons, Kyle (Cathrine) Vaughn, Myndie (John) Everling, Cody Vaughn, Tom (Via) Sorrell, Seth Sorrell, Katherine (Steven) Bouyer, Moriah (David) Inman, Jonathon Zentz, Isaiah Zentz, Elizabeth Zentz, and Zophia Zentz; 42 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren, and 7 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Janet Smith Rhoades, siblings, Delbert Rhoades, Leanna Rhoades Johnson, Wayne Rhoades, Eva Rhoades Slater; nephews, David Rhoades, Michael Rhoades, Terry Johnson; great grandchild, Alice LaRue; son, Norman Sorrell; grandchildren, Athena Sorrell, Jacob Vaughn, and great grandchild, Judah Bouyer.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday July 7, 2023, at Bible Baptist Church, 2635 S. Dixon Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Keith Treadway officiating. Military honor will be provided by the United States Air Force and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 4 pm to 7 pm on Thursday July 6, 2023, at the church. Stout & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family with final expenses.
Bobby Wayne Wade
Bobby Wayne Wade, age 65, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. He was born in Knoxville, TN on April 18, 1958 to the late Cathrine and Johnny Wade.
He grew up in Indiana and attended Roosevelt School. Bobby worked as a mechanic for many years, and he fell in love with old cars and motorcycles.
Bobby was known to be the life of the party, he was an avid beer drinker and a professional redneck. He had so many friends that he adopted the nickname "the Mayor of North end". He was loved by all, and he is going to be greatly missed.
He is survived by his children Robert (Jami Marple) Wade and John Edward Wade; siblings Sharon Rust-Birl, Kyle Wade, and Martin Edward Wade; his beloved grandbabies Adrian Wade, Austin Wade, Haley Wade, Bryce Wade, Lauren Wade, Josh Wade, Kirsten Wade, Lexi Marple, Hannah Marple; nieces and nephews Michael Wade, Michelle Wade, Kristy Evitts, Ronald Elrod, Dewayne Rust, Jason Rust, Ronni Wade, Kristi Hamilton, Tracy Wade, Stacey Wade, Jerry Wade, Kimberly Wade, Robert Turner, James Turner, Kyle Osbern, Kory Wade, Sara Wade, Lacey Wade, Sharon Johnson, Philip Wade, Matt Wade, Josh Wade, Briana Wade, and Kylie Wade, as well as several great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by two wives Debbie Wade and Donna Fouch; siblings David Wade, Ronald Wade, Jerry Wade, Frida Hutchison, and Marshell Laverne Wade; grandmothers Tavi Hodge and Lula Wade.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
