Andrew Stephen Fernung
Andrew Stephen Fernung, known to many as Steve and to some as Andy, passed away on July 17, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born on January 8, 1951, in Kokomo, Steve was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Steve was one of several siblings in a close-knit family and was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Magdelena (Kreis) Fernung and his brother John Fernung.
Steve is lovingly remembered by his two daughters Shannon Hall (Greg) of Zionsville and Shawna Thomas (Jeff) of Noblesville, five grandchildren — Braden Hall, Bailey Hall, Holden Thomas, Maddux Thomas, and Adeline Thomas — who meant the world to him, his three surviving siblings Jerry Fernung (Barbee) of Sharpsville, Linda Warner of Kokomo, and Brent Fernung (Crystal) of Ocala, Florida, and seven nieces and nephews Kyle Fernung (Melinda), Scott Warner (Jeanette), Kory Fernung (Danalee), Shari Castor (Tyler), Casey Bradford (Garrett), Andrew Fernung (Calli), and Nicole Agasar (Andrew).
Steve graduated from Sharpsville-Prairie High School in 1969. He spent his career working for Chrysler Automotive, where he retired after a dedicated 38-year career, many of those years as a union steward. Steve was proud of his work and the many friendships he built over the years and was known for his hard work, loyalty, and quick wit.
A man of simple joys and strong loyalties, Steve had a love for gardening, cooking, watching Jeopardy and black & white westerns, and finding a great deal; he never passed up a chance to shop in bulk. His passions also included sports, with the Chicago Cubs being his favorite team, owning and raising thoroughbred horses, and corgi dogs, especially his cherished little Rosie. Steve had a remarkable gift for storytelling and a wealth of knowledge that made him a go-to for advice, history, or a good laugh. His stories were rich with humor and heart, and he had a way of making everyone feel like they were part of something special.
More than anything, Steve cherished his family. His grandchildren brought him immense pride, and he never missed an opportunity to support them or brag about them.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 23, 2025, at Sharpsville United Methodist Church, 228 W. Meridian St., Sharpsville, IN 46068, with Pastor Mandie Gould Willoughby. Steve will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Linda Lee Gosser
Linda Lee Gosser, 77, passed away on July 17, 2025. She was born on February 27, 1948, to James & Joan (Rhine) McKnight. Linda was a 1966 graduate of Lewis Cass High School. She lived a life full of creativity and faith. Her gentle spirit and creative heart left a lasting imprint on both the things she crafted and the lives she touched.
A talented artist, seamstress, and entrepreneur, Linda poured her heart into her beloved businesses Linda’s Second Childhood, Teddies & Friends, Grace Cottage Teddies, and Grace & Peace Arts. She was best known for creating Linlee Bears—teddy bears she designed and stitched from her own original pattern. Each one was crafted with care and carried her warmth, bringing comfort and joy to all who received them.
Linda’s creativity touched every part of her life. Her studio, always a bit chaotic, was a true haven of inspiration. In that studio, she passed her creative spirit on to the next generation, teaching how to sew, paint, and bring ideas to life with love and imagination. She had a gift for making the ordinary magical, whether planting flowers, sharing meals, or laughing over games and movies well past bedtime. She truly listened, making others feel seen and valued, and she shared her passions with a joy that was both inspiring and infectious.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. As a devoted member of the church, she poured her heart into serving in many ways, lending her voice to the choir, leading the children’s choir, and creating beautiful banners and handmade pieces that adorned the sanctuaries where she worshiped. Her spiritual journey was not only expressed in her service, but also in her travels to places like Great Britain, Israel, and Egypt; journeys that reflected her deep desire to learn, grow, and connect with her faith on a deeper level.
Though no amount of time with her ever felt like enough, her legacy will continue in the people who knew her and the lives she inspired. Her spirit and love will live on, in every stitch of fabric, every painted stroke, and every cherished memory.
Surviving family include her husband Jonathan Gosser, two daughters Dawn Ellen Hendricks and Gina Moore (Scott Harper), three stepchildren Dietrich (Courtney) Gosser, Becky (Joey) Morrow, and Marty Gosser (Laura Eckenrod), and two brothers Dennis (Sharon) McKnight and Mark McKnight. Also surviving are her grandchildren Vienna (Ben) Kraay, Tucker (Chyna) Moore, McKenna (Ian) Moore, Kaitlyn Morrow (Kevin Kimball), Alpha Gosser, and Frances Gosser, great-grandchildren Wesley, Colton, and Logan Kraay, Atlas Druck, and Kal-el and Winnie Kimball, and several nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Chester (Bud) Hendricks.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Chaplin Debra Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Galveston Cemetery.
