Patricia Louise Townsend
Patricia Louise Townsend, 92, of Kokomo, Indiana departed this life on June 26,2023, at Fishers, to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and all the family and friends who have gone on before.
She was born September 9, 1930, to James Paul, Sr. and Lettie Mae (Peele) Denman, at home, at 404 ½ East Superior Street in Kokomo, Indiana. She married Fredrick Eugene Townsend on July 25, 1953, in Kokomo. To that union, which lasted 56 years, were born six children: twins: Craig (Chris) Townsend, and Gregg (Betsy) Townsend, Brian (Sue) Townsend, Kris (Judi) Townsend, and twins: Fredrick (April) Townsend, and Deanna (Curtis) Dicken. Over the years, a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren were added to her loving family.
She graduated from Kokomo High School, in 1948, and began working at Delco Radio, until Craig and Gregg were born. After the second set of twins were in school, she began her career in Real Estate, working for Taggart Wheeler and Larry F Wells agencies. She got her broker’s license in April, 1979. Eventually, she joined Re/Max Realty One, but left working full-time, in 1992, to take in and care for her mother for the next 12 years. She received several achievement awards during her career, but most notable is the honesty and integrity with which she served her clients. She remained actively licensed until June 30, 2014.
She was devoted to her family, serving many years as a room mother, President of the Kokomo-Howard County PTA, President of the Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association (now, Lung Association), contributor to the Kokomo Tribune, and Co-Director of Up with People -Sing out Kokomo. She attended a multitude of ball games, band concerts, school programs, high school, college, and military graduations. Throughout their marriage, Patt and Fred had a standing daily luncheon rendezvous. Their marriage was rock-solid and unshakable. She was involved in making mandatory the testing of newborns for Phenylketonuria.
She leaves her sister-in-law Darlene Townsend, along with Craig, Gregg, Fred and Deanna, and spouses, children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law; husband Fredrick Townsend, sons: Brian and Kris; brother and sister-in-law James Paul (Shirley) Denman, sister and brother-in-law Marjorie (Bill) Jeffers, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ruth (Clifford) Eytcheson, and their son, David Eytcheson, Brother-in-law: Phillip Townsend; sister-in-law, Roberta Norket; granddaughter, Leigh Ann Townsend, along with nephews, nieces, grand and great- grand children who were lost to miscarriages.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023, and 10 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, Indiana, with service at Noon; Gregg A. Townsend, officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
