Edwin L. Krull
Edwin L. Krull of Kokomo, Indiana, died June 23, 2023, after a hard battle with congestive heart failure.
He was 95.
Krull was born on December 29, 1927, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Leslie and Helen Krull, the second of three sons the couple had. He was a proud graduate of Washington High School in St. Paul, class of 1945, and continued to attend reunions for the school into his 90s. He also graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1952.
Between his high school and college years, he served in the U.S. Army, enlisting in the waning days of World War II before he had even turned 18. For the rest of his life, he took pride in his service to his country and supported veterans’ groups and causes.
For much of his career, he worked as a youth director for YMCAs in Indiana and Ohio. He also served as a driving tester for the state of Indiana.
His passion was for sports. He was a highly ranked horseshoe pitcher and competed regularly for Indiana state and world titles in the sport. In his senior years, he competed in the senior Olympics, collecting ribbons, medallions and trophies in his age group well into his 70s.
He was an enthusiastic and often vocal spectator at his five grandchildren’s sporting events and took joy in watching them compete.
He was and his family continues to be grateful for the care and concern he received from the staff at Primrose Retirement Community and the staff of Kindred Hospice.
Krull is survived by his son, John (Jenny) Krull, of Indianapolis, daughter, Leslie (Dwight) Cheu, of Glenmont, New York; grandson, Ryan (Jennifer) Cheu, of San Francisco, California; granddaughter, Lindsay (Dan) Cheu, of Seattle, Washington; grandson, John Cheu, of Durham, North Carolina; granddaughter, Erin Krull, of Boston, Massachusetts; grandson, Ian Edwin Krull, of Indianapolis; dear companion, Nelda Garrison; and an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ray Krull and Don Sutton; his son Andrew C. Krull; and his grandson, Simon C. Cheu.
All who survive him mourn his passing and honor his memory.
A memorial service for him will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo. Burial will follow in Marion National Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Barbara Jean Ridenour
Barbara Jean Ridenour, 94, Sharpsville, passed away at 11:45 am on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Kokomo Healthcare Center. She was born in New Castle, IN., on February 14, 1929, the daughter of the late Oscar Mason “OM” and Volena Blanche (Nale) Williams. On July 27, 1945, in Russiaville, she married Warren F. “Barney” Ridenour, and he preceded her in death on August 27, 2010.
Barbara was a member of the Beulah Land Church, where she played piano and organ. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and she took pride in her home. Barbara loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her children, Keila Harris, and Bill (Missy) Ridenour; daughters-in-law, Patty Ridenour and Judy Ridenour; grandchildren, Leigh Anne Adjiri, Alexis Bryant, Kim Allen Jr., April Johnson, Kelly Ridenour, Christina Harris, Trevor Morgan, Trent (Angie) Morgan, Tammy Cunningham, and Kayla Achors; great grandchildren, Dakota, Christian, Bailey, Jalen, Laylah, Laydon, Savannah, Makalee, Leilani, Calum, Koletin, Koren, Kade, Kaleb, Kyle, Katelynn, Jordan, Kymmie, Dillon, Destiny, Amelia, Youcef, Thomas, Alayna, and Abren; 10 great great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Ashby; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Christy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sons, Kim Ridenour, Warren M. Ridenour Sr., and Karl F. Ridenour; grandson, Warren M. Ridenour Jr.; great granddaughter, Ava.
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Monday July 3, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Chaplain Jeff Walls officiating. Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 am to noon on Monday at the funeral home. Madeline Hines
Madeline was born March 10, 1928 to Cora (Starkey) and Floyd Harmon in Middlefork, Indiana. She passed away peacefully at home on June 27, 2023 surrounded by her devoted family. She attended Carrollton School and retired from Delco Electronics in 1988 after over 30 years of service. She was a member of the UAW Local 292 and Upper Deer Creek Church.
She married the love of her life, Robert J. Hines on October 21, 1951 in Kokomo, Indiana; he preceded her in death on February 8, 2016. Together they raised 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren with a 3rd baby due in January, 2024.
They enjoyed spending many summers on Lake Freeman, teaching their children and grandchildren how to ski and share their love for boating. Madeline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed taking family vacations and could talk for hours about the trips they took and she was especially fond of their adventure to Hawaii. She and Bob spent countless hours in their woodshop making beautiful items for their family and toy boxes for their grandchildren. Madeline was very active and enjoyed mowing the lawn on her prized John Deere tractor and bowling. She began playing the rattle bones at the age of 5 and played for the last time at church 2 days after her 95th birthday. Madeline was a huge Pacers and Chicago Cubs fan; you could always find her in front of the TV rooting for her favorite team and players. She loved cooking large family meals especially beef and noodles and having her entire family sit down for a Sunday dinner. Madeline touched the lives of many people and the legacy she leaves behind is just a small portion of the amazing woman that she was.
She leaves behind her loving children; Larry (Mary) Robison, Floyd (Denise) Russell, Brenda Bell and Hal Daugherty, Debra (Jack) Gallaher, Lenora Gamblin and Teresa Allen. Her grandchildren; Eric (Tonia) Robison, Kelley Robison, Lisa (Brian) Cheek, Amanda (Scott) Oyler, Kristy (Jeremy) McNeil, Shawn (Ron) Mace, Shannon (Carl) Sharp, Jack W. (Sherry) Gallaher, Scott (Amy) Gallaher, Melissa (Todd) Kirkman and Tara Gamblin. Her great-grandchildren; Zachary, Sydney and Kaitlyn Robison, Luke and Austin Oyler, Kyle Bourff, Nathan and Emily McNeil, Taran (fiance’ Meg Rodewald) Knosp, Daman (fiance’ Kristen Gorski) Knosp, Kami (Alex) Leiter, Breyten Sharp, Shane, Krystan (fiance’ Conner Lipinski) Gallaher and Marissa Gallaher, Kole (Kristin Henson) Kirkman, Ayden Shaffer, Gavin Heath and Messina Paul. Her great-great grandsons Kasen Kirkman and Archer Leiter. She is also survived by a loving sister- in-law Kathy Reynolds Sipes along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters; Christobel Adams and Margaret Reinke, two brothers Gerald and Basil Harmon, step-mother Elba Sipes Harmon Garrison, step brothers Leroy, Bobby, Arthur and James Sipes.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Southern Care Hospice , Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo and Pastor Mark Davis. A very heartfelt thank you to Shirley Julow, who has done so much more than help take care of Madeline in her final days. We are forever grateful for everything they have done for our family.
A funeral service will take place at 1 pm Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Upper Deer Creek Church, 5019 E Co Rd 1400 S, Galveston, with Pastor Joe Coffin officiating. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10:30 am to 1 pm on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request memorial donations be made to Upper Deer Creek Church, Galveston, IN for playground equipment. Terry Lynn Ford
Terry Lynn Ford, age 79, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo. She was born to the late Russell and Violet (Berry) Gifford in Kokomo. Terry married Mannie Ford Jr. on May 5, 1961 in Kokomo and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2017.
Terry was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid fan of the Colts and the Hoosiers.
She is survived by her two sons, Russell Ford and Phillip Ford; two grandchildren, Emily (Brad) Redding, Evan Ford; and three great-grandchildren, Liam, Ellie, and Finn.
Preceding her in death is her loving husband of 56 years, Mannie; and three sisters.
