Onie Mae Minor
Onie Mae Minor, age 99, of Chesterton, Indiana, formerly of Kokomo, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Addison Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on May 2, 1924 in Marion, Louisiana to the late John F. Bowen and Verna B. (Bardin) Bowen. Onie married Lyle R. Minor in Louisiana in 1946, and he preceded her in death on October 4, 1992.
Onie retired at JC Penneys in Kokomo after 18 years of employment, where she worked in sales. She was a former member of First Baptist Church and attended Westside Baptist Church, most recently. Onie was a proper Southern Lady who had many lifelong friends. She enjoyed traveling, seeing new and interesting places and making new friends along the way. Onie had a sharp sense of humor who inspired others. She was an avid quilter, sewer, embroiderer, knitter, and crocheter. Onie also enjoyed reading books, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Surviving is one son, John Edward (Julia) Minor, of Westville; nephew, John (Ellen) Bowen; six grandchildren, Leanne, Christopher "Skip", Nicole, Travis, Thomas, and Johnathan; four great-grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death is her loving husband of 46 years, Lyle; and two sons, Thomas Wayne and Charles Mickey.
There will be a time of visitation for Onie on Wednesday, July 5 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo with Pastor Kenn Freeland officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Onie to the Dementia Friends of Indiana, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
Terry Lynn Ford
Terry Lynn Ford, age 79, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo. She was born to the late Russell and Violet (Berry) Gifford in Kokomo. Terry married Mannie Ford Jr. on May 5, 1961 in Kokomo and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2017.
Terry was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid fan of the Colts and the Hoosiers.
She is survived by her two sons, Russell Ford and Phillip Ford; two grandchildren, Emily (Brad) Redding, Evan Ford; and three great-grandchildren, Liam, Ellie, and Finn.
Preceding her in death is her loving husband of 56 years, Mannie; and three sisters.
