Harold "Jay" Baldwin
Harold "Jay" Baldwin, 86, Kokomo, passed away at 1:25 pm Monday, June 5, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 28, 1936, in Kewanna, Indiana, to the late Homer Clay Baldwin & Martha Bernice (Campbell) Baldwin. On April 28, 1956, he married Doris Marie Evans and they had just celebrated 67 happy years of marriage this year.
Jay graduated from Logansport High School in 1955. He worked at Chrysler Corp for 7 years, serving 4 years of that as an apprentice electrician. He then went to work for Delco Electronics, retiring in 1991 after serving as a supervisor for 30 years. After retirement, he worked at Kirby Risk retiring after 9 years.
Jay enjoyed camping, rocketry, target shooting, gardening and photography. He was a 50-year member of the Naphtali Lodge #389. He loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grand kids.
Along with his wife Doris, Jay is also survived by his children, Cindy Baldwin, Kokomo, and Bruce (Lesa) Baldwin, Burlington; granddaughters, Nicole (Steve) Keith, Crawfordsville and Katey Baldwin, Lafayette; great-grandchildren, Henry Jay Keith (who was named after him) and Lilah Grace Keith, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Jay Baldwin; brothers, Richard (Florence) Baldwin and Robert “Bob” Janie; special friend (a man he considered his second father), Floyd “Pop” Sparks; and his feline companion, Clark.
The family would like to thank Elara Caring skilled Home Care and Elara Caring Hospice for all their wonderful help these past 6 months and to Dr. Lockwood for taking good care of Jay over the years.
Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, June 12, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2-4 pm Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jay’s memory to Howard County CASA or Kokomo Humane Society.
William “Bill” W. Ward
William “Bill” W. Ward, 83, Kokomo, passed away at 5:15 am on Wednesday June 7, 2023, at Waterford Place Health Campus. He was born in Rochester on July 6, 1939, the son of the late William R. and Helen I. (VanLue) Ward. He married Margaret Beroshok in Kokomo on May 30, 1974, and she survives.
Bill graduated from Akron High School in 1957 and Indiana University Bloomington in 1961, where he received his bachelor’s degree. He served his country in the United States Army from 1961-1963, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Bill worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a CPA and retired after 30 years of service. He was a 50-year Mason, and member of the Oriental Lodge in California. He was an Eagle Scout, Kappa Sigma treasurer, member of the Kentucky Colonels, and the recipient of the Albert Gallatin Award by the U.S. Department of Treasury. He enjoyed fishing, and camping in Minnesota and began wood crafting after his retirement. Above all though he was a Christian man.
Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, William E. Ward, and Karen Ward (Richard Graham Littlejohn); and grandson, Christopher P. Sáez.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation.
Janet Eva Kazlas
Janet Eva Kazlas, 58, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on June 7, 2023 at home. She was born on May 19, 1965 in Mt. Kiscko, New York the daughter of Gerald and Carol Guthrie. She married Joseph Kazlas who survives. Janet loved music and loved spending time at home with her family.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 22 years, Joe; daughter, Kathryn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved brother, Michael.
