Lonnie Andrew Estep
Lonnie Andrew Estep, 52, Kokomo, passed away at 2:00 am on Wednesday March 22, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born in Muncie, IN. on September 25, 1970, to Paul and Judy (Compliment) Estep. He married Sandra Smeltzer on May 23, 2015, and she survives.
Lonnie was a 1989 graduate of Wapahani High School and a 1995 graduate of Ball State University. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Academy of Model Aeronautics. He enjoyed working with wood and putting together model airplanes. Most of all Lonnie loved spending time with his wife and children.
Along with his wife Sandy, Lonnie is survived by his children, Henry, Samuel, Penelope, and Brayden Estep; mother, Judy Estep; brothers, Mike (Dottie) Estep, and David (Dawn) Estep.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Estep; brothers, Mark Estep, and Ronald Estep and his mother-in-law, Irene Alvarez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street, Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Elliott Zak the celebrant. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm Friday at the church, where the Rosary will be offered at 10:00 am Friday. Contributions may be made in Lonnie’s memory to Sts. Janet Ann Lawton
Janet Ann Lawton, 82, Bringhurst, passed away at 12:30 pm Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Kokomo Healthcare Center. She was born July 26, 1940 in Carroll County, IN, the daughter of the late Vernon “Mike” Henry and Christina (Randolph) Landes.
Janet was a 1958 graduate of Burlington High School. She gave 30 years of her life to working in various nursing homes across Clinton, Carroll, and Howard County. Janet was a member of Hope Community Fellowship Church, formerly known as Sharon Baptist Church.
Janet is survived by her nephew, Billy Landes; niece, Stacy Landes; along with several cousins.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brother, Eddie Landes.
The family would like to thank the ladies of Hope Community Fellowship Church who helped care for Janet.
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm Monday, March 27, 2023, at Stout & Son Funeral Home-Neptune Chapel, 44 Michigan Rd., Burlington, with Pastor Mike Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 am until the start of the service on Monday at the funeral home. Norman Kent Smith
Norman Kent Smith, 83, Sharpsville, passed away at 12:36 pm Sunday, March 19, 2023, at his home. He was born October 4, 1939, in Indianapolis, the son of the late Norman O. & Dorothy M. (Boyd) Smith. On January 22, 1958, in Whitestown, IN, he married Sally Margaret Dulin, who survives.
Kent was a graduate of Whitestown High School. He retired from A&P and Kroger after more than 25 years of service as a meat department manager and forklift driver. He enjoyed restoring and driving his 1929 Model A, scooters and going to swap meets.
Along with his wife Sally, Kent is also survived by his children, Dean (Carol) Smith, Melinda K. Amstutz and Lisa M. (Martin) Williams; grandchildren, Kevin (Amber) Smith, Rachel Smith, and Lynn Smith, Kyle (Jordan) Amstutz and David (Miranda) Amstutz, Aaron (Katherin) Williams, and Stacie (Julian) Salinas; great-grandchildren, Charley Smith, Lucy Smith, Emmy Salinas, and Cole Williams.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 pm Friday, March 24, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Private funeral services will be held with Lynn Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Albright Cemetery.
