Carrie "Pat" Patricia Hendricks
Carrie "Pat" Patricia Hendricks, age 81, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. Pat was born in Harrisburg, Arkansas to Avery and Marittia (Koontz) James on May 15, 1942. She was a bartender for the Eagles Lodge for more 25 years. She loved drinking, smoking and watching John Wayne. She enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Pat is survived by her children, B Kenneth Chelf, Darlene (Pete) Farmer, Christina (John) Phalen, and Brian (Missy) Chelf; grandchildren, Nathan Farmer, Brittany Mallory, Brandon Thomas, Ashlie Ladd, Angelique Stollings, Cody Chelf and Ashleigh Chelf; as well as several great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation for Pat on Monday, March 11, from 2 pm until 4 pm at Ellers Mortuary and Cremation Center, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo. Condolences and fond memories may be left for Pat's family at ellersmortuaryandcremationcenter.com .
Curtis DeWayne Allen
Curtis DeWayne Allen, 59, Kokomo, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at his home. He was born May 4, 1964, in Kokomo, the son of Bobby Ray Allen & Marjorie Irene (Williams) Allen Bales. On September 1, 2007, at Mississinewa Lake he married Sherry Lynn Whited. She preceded him in death February 17, 2017.
Curtis was a 1982 graduate of Kokomo High School. He worked in maintenance for 13 years at Hills Department Store before going to work for the Howard County Sheriff’s Department. Curtis began his career with the Howard County Sheriff’s office in April 1995 as a correctional officer. He went on to work as a transportation officer and retired in July 2022 as a Court Security Officer. During his years with the Sheriff’s office, he made many valued friendships.
Curtis was a member of the Church of God of the Union Assembly. He coached little league for 13 years at Northside and Eastside. He was a licensed Umpire working in northern Indiana. Curtis enjoyed fishing and was a fan of the Tennessee Volunteers.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Marjorie & Larry Bales; sister Tanya (Jerry) Eubanks; stepsister, Deanna (Richard) Thompson; stepbrothers, Rick (Elaine) Bales, Steve Bales; uncle, Thomas “Tommy” (Jill Quackenbush) Williams; aunts, Dottie (Larry Weeden) Salsbery, Jackie Pratt and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Ray Allen and his wife, Sherry Lynn Allen.
A funeral service celebrating Curtis’ life will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the Church of God of the Union Assembly, 538 400 S, Kokomo, IN, with Pastor Ronnie Bumgarner officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery with Curtis’ friends from the Howard County Sheriff’s Department serving as Pall Bearers. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:00 am until service time at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Curtis’ memory to the Church of God of the Union Assembly. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
