Darryl Keith Ryan
Darryl Keith Ryan, 60, Kokomo, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 14, 2023 at his daughter’s home. He was born July 18, 1962 in Kokomo to Franklin L. and JoAnn L. (Harmon) Ryan. On September 19, 1987 he married Joanna Fansler who preceded him in death on May 5, 2003. On June 17, 2010 he married Lora who preceded him in death on May 7, 2022.
A 1981 Haworth High School graduate, Darryl worked for the City of Kokomo for more than 25 years retiring as a maintenance man in 2017. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed open wheel racing, boating, playing darts, and tinkering in his pole barn. Darryl enjoyed spending time with his family and loved both of his cats.
He is survived by his mom, JoAnn Ryan; children, Alisha (Nick) Parrott, Nicole (Brent) Bowman, Brett Ryan, Daryl Marie (Tony Pasquale) Ryan, and Bennett (Courtney) Kerr; grandchildren, Corbin Parrott, Caiden Parrott, Elijah Burton, Braxton Bowman, and Paisley Bowman; as well as a brother, Ronald W. (Lauretta Mae) Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his father and wives, Joanna Ryan and Lora Ryan.
Services celebrating Darryl’s life will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at West Middleton UMC, 480 W 230 S, Kokomo, with Pastor Kevin Marsh officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Larry A. Ives
Larry A. Ives, 76, of Kokomo, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 9:12 am Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo. He was born in Kokomo, IN, on June 8, 1946, the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Kiser) Ives. On February 14, 1976, he married Marlis Jones Graham in Leesburg, FL, and she survives.
Larry was a 1964 graduate of Kokomo High School. He graduated from Indiana University in 1976 and later earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Ball State University in 1979. He served a career in law enforcement as a Kokomo Police Officer for 20 years and worked as Chief of Police in Delphi, IN, from 1992 through 1997. He and Joan Dumoulin started the first D.A.R.E. program in Indiana in 1985 under the leadership of Rodger Fain. Upon retirement from law enforcement, Larry was instrumental in bringing a fixed route trolley system and senior bus to the city of Kokomo. Larry was a devout Christian man and was a member of Oakford Baptist Church/Crossroads Community Church for 30 years. He was a current member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was musically gifted and sang in a gospel group called the Peacemakers.
In addition to his wife Marlis, Larry is survived by his children, Wayne (Susan) Ives, Lori (Kevin) Akers, Saundra (Robert) Moten, Julie (Tom) Byers, Kathy Graham; grandchildren, Noel (Amanda) Ives, Jaci (Matt) Arney, Ryan (Abby) Perry, Pat (Ally) Perry, Ethan Akers, Emily Akers, Brandon Moten, Jacob (Tabitha) Byers, Levi (Hilary) Byers, Noah (Carlissa) Byers, Dante (Cortny) Graham, Deon (Sydney Combs) Graham, Jared Newton; uncle, Richard Kiser; 15 great-grandchildren and one expected this summer; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy (Sam) Collins.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the funeral home, with Pastors Kim Drake and Jeff Harlow officiating. Special music will be provided by Danny Funderburk and Patrick Wilson. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Larry’s memory to Howard County Community Foundation for the Kokomo High School Class of 1964 Scholarship Fund. Joshuwa Lee Weaver
Joshuwa Lee Weaver, 43, of Converse, passed away at 2:02 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born November 3, 1979, in Kokomo, the son of Andrew A. Weaver and Kimberly K. (Morris) Weaver.
Josh attended Eastern High School and Ivy Tech Community College. He loved to cook and enjoyed watching Food Network. He was a collector of art, toys, vinyl and sculptures, and he loved animals, especially his recue dog, Max.
Survivors include his parents; brother, Kaiden Weaver; aunts, Stacy (Brian) Hamilton, Stephanie (Donnie) Dykes, Cathy (Larry) Goins and Susan Weaver; uncle, Doug (Carolyn) Weaver; many cousins; and his dog, Max.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Phil & Sue Morris and Jack & Dorothy Weaver; aunt, Amy Jackson; and uncle, Russell “Rusty” Weaver.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Christian Life Fellowship, 1009 Holiday Dr., Greentown, with Pastor Gary Hoover officiating. Private burial will take place Wednesday in Mast-Hensler Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Mary Belle Powell
Mary Belle Powell, 90, of Kokomo, passed away at 6:55 am Saturday May 20, 2023, at her home. She was born in Haven, Kansas, on September 22, 1932, the daughter of Evy Daniel and Roberta Belle (Wright) Easter. On February 8, 1969, she married Jacob Henry “Hank” Powell, and he survives.
Mary held employment at Haynes Stellite, Kingston’s, Cuneo Press, and Turner’s Department Store. She retired from Delco Electronics where she worked in production. Mary was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a former member of Judson Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for years. She and her husband Hank were snowbirds down in Florida. She loved spoiling her grandchildren and taking them on trips to Disney World.
Mary is survived by her children, Larry (Michelle) Hinesley, Brenda Hensley, Rick (Karen) Powell, Penny Taylor, Pam Lusher; brother, Floyd Easter; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Evy and Roberta Easter; siblings, Edward Easter, Charles Easter, Roletta Weese, Margarett Perrin, Eva Brokaw, Clyde Easter, Parry Easter; son-in-law, Roger Hensley; and sister-in-law, Dolores Easter.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 am to Noon Monday June 5, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. Funeral service will begin at Noon on Monday June 5, 2023, at the funeral home, with Pastor Steven Archer officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden.
