Marion McCarter

Marion McCarter, 94, Kokomo, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Kokomo Place, surrounded by her family. She was born to Fred and Deborah (Duncan) Rose on June 8, 1928, in Elizabeth, PA. She married the love of her life, William McCarter, on March 21, 1952, and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2014.

Marion gave her life to Christ as a child, and faithfully served him throughout her life. She was an active member of Brookside Free Methodist Church for over 70 years. Her passion was to raise her children to serve the Lord and share her faith with others.

Marion is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Steven) Dupes, Sheryl (Les) Johnson, and Jennifer Lefler; grandchildren, Julia Schnellenberger, Stephanie Childers, Mark Jr., Matt, Jason, and Jeremy Lefler; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Wilda Harris, and Louise Lindberg of PA; and sister-in-law, Deloris McCarter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, William “Bill” McCarter III; son-in-law, Mark Lefler Sr.; six brothers; three sisters; and one great grandson.

The family would like to express special thanks to Kokomo Place for the loving care Marion received.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Brookside Free Methodist Church, 190 E. 400 S., Kokomo, with Reverend’s Jason and Jeremy Lefler officiating. Friends may visit with the family from noon to 2 pm on Tuesday at the church. Burial will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 9 am.
