Daniel A. Duffek
Daniel A. Duffek, 86, Kokomo, passed away at 7:45 pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Community North Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born in Campbellsport, WI. on March 24, 1937, to the late Joseph W. and Olga A. (Onesti) Duffek. He married Arlene L. Martens on May 30, 1957, in Milwaukee, WI, and she survives.
Daniel graduated from Don Bosco High School in Milwaukee and Marquette University with a degree in engineering. He worked for Delco Electronics as a mechanical engineer and retired in 1996. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and was a 4th degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and the Delco Camping Club. Daniel enjoyed camping, hunting, boating, and traveling. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids.
Along with his wife Arlene, Daniel is survived by his children, Rochelle (Jill) Duffek, Lynn (Chuck) Graves, Beth (Eric) Bokhart, and Christine (Dan) Rassel; grandchildren, Tyler (Sarah) Graves, Monica (Scott) Porter, Andrew Bokhart, Alec Bokhart, Margo Bokhart, Collin Rassel, and Audrey Rassel; great grandchildren, Christian Graves, and Raegyn Graves; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Diana Krivitz, and Kathleen Gregovich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, on Monday, May 8, 2023, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 County Road S. 200 W., Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Derek Aaron, the celebrant. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2 pm to 5 pm on Sunday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with the Rosary recited at 1:30 pm. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Daniel A. Duffek Memorial Scholarship, of the Community Foundation of Howard County, 215 W. Alva “Al” F. Moore
Alva “Al” F. Moore, 84, Oakford, IN. passed away at 12:07 am on Thursday May 4, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Kokomo. He was born in Clay County, TN. on December 20, 1938, to the late Fred and Benzie (Johnson) Moore. On November 21, 1959, in Livingston, TN., he married Sue Lee, and she survives.
Al worked for Continental Steel for 24 years as a brick mason, retiring when the plant closed. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to attend car shows. Al enjoyed meeting people and making new friends, especially within his “car show family” and on his daily walks at the mall. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
Al is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Mike (Rita) Moore, and Donna York; grandchildren, Carly (David) Brinkley, Casey (Jacob) Hurlock, Hayley Wisehart, Jesse York, and Natalie York; great grandchildren, Matasia Goodwin, Talan Ledbetter, Saylor Brinkley, and Raelynn Hurlock; sister, Reba Bledsoe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Thelma Dukes, and Patty Allen; brothers, Bill Moore, Bayless Moore, Fred Moore Jr., and Stanley Moore.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 pm to 7 pm on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the funeral home.
