Alice Louise Evans
Alice Louise Evans, 96, Kokomo, passed away Saturday May 6, 2023, at her home. She was born August 1, 1926, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Claude & Minnie A. (Mote) Nelson. In 1999, she married Ronald V. Evans who preceded her in death on March 26, 2004.
Louise was a 1944 graduate of Kokomo High School. She retired in 1993 from General Motors after 47 years of service. Louise was a member of the Eagles, VFW Women’s Auxiliary and the Tipton Moose Lodge #1590. She was also a member of several Bowling clubs and Shuffleboard leagues.
Louise enjoyed spending time at Eel River. She also enjoyed spending time with her dogs and grandchildren, along with gardening and shopping where she was a collector of all things.
Louise is survived by her grandchildren, Jason Smith, Angie Smith, Shawna Smith, Rain Smith, Nathan Smith, Joshua Smith, Angela Morris, David Morris, Lori Chambers, Ryan Smith, Amanda Burkett, Randy Burkett, Betty (Byron) Weitzel, Dwayne Smith and Wayne Smith; many great-grandchildren along with special great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Burkett and Tamara Hardwick; nephew, Eric Nelson; sisters, Margie Coy and Mary Lou Stroud; and special caretaker, Missy Pyle.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Evans; children, Jerry, Roger and Dave Smith; grandsons, Chuck Smith and Billy Connor; and brothers, Jim, Jack, Bill, Bob, Dave and Jerry Nelson.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Charles Harold Johnson
Charles Harold Johnson, 73, Kokomo, passed away at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at his home. He was born on July 22, 1949, to the late Edwin Johnson. He married Ruth Duncan on January 19, 1968, and she survives.
Charles graduated from Kokomo High School in 1968. He worked for Chrysler Corporation as a groundskeeper and retired after 31 years of service. He was a member of the UAW Local 1166. He was happy to volunteer his time as an umpire and referee for different sports. He was a race fan and an avid I.U. fan. He loved hopping on the John Deere and mowing his lawn.
Along with his wife, Ruth, Charles is survived by his children, Doug Johnson, Karen Johnson (Carlon Stollings), and Jill (Robert) Eason; grandchildren, Kanita Johnson, Kacy (Dylan) Sessna, Kaleb Douglass, Camry Archer, Cershon Archer, and Jemain Archer; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Eddie (Donna) Johnson, and Gene (Karen) Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and his beloved poodle, Bailey, who he was excited to see in heaven.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Joe David Wampler officiating.
